HTC Launches the Desire 10 Pro and Desire 10 Lifestyle

HTC has officially announced a pair of stylish new mid-range phones, the HTC Desire 10 and the HTC Desire 10 Pro. As the names suggest, the Lifestyle is the lower spec-ed entry level version of the pair, while the Pro boasts a higher res screen (1080p vs 720p), faster LTE radio (Cat 6 vs Cat 4) and a bigger camera (20-megapixels vs 13). Both phones run Android 6.0 Marshmallow with HTC’s Sense custom skin and come with HTC’s trademark BoomSound speakers.

Design-wise, HTC’s gone for something a little different here. Apparently inspired by the ‘bold, precise, geometric’ lines of the Art Deco movement, HTC’s Desire 10 phones. Casting an eye over those black and gold press renders, there is something a bit Great Gatsby as told through Baz Luhrmann’s postmodern whimsy filter about them, we suppose.

Chialin Chang, president of the smartphone and connected devices business at HTC said the focus on design is a call back to the legacy of HTC’s once world-beating Desire phone, while copping some style from the current flagship, the HTC 10. “HTC’s Desire line has always stood for fresh, youthful, and fashionable designs that are focused on delivering a great experience.”

Chang further added, “Today, our Desire line is about to make its biggest leap since the original Desire. Inspired by many of the same innovations that have made the flagship HTC 10 so popular, we’re bringing these innovations to the Desire 10, making it the most brilliant Desire ever. With a brand new, modern luxurious design inspired by the HTC 10 and pro-like cameras, and including features that outshine even some of the top flagship phones in the industry, the HTC Desire 10 will have you rethinking what to expect from an HTC Desire.”

We’re still waiting on confirmation of exact regional prices, but HTC has said that the Desire 10 Lifestyle will cost roughly $335 and will go on sale at the end of September. The Desire 10 Pro, which will obviously be more expensive, will hit the shelves in November.
