Review: Lenovo Yoga 920

Lenovo’s new Yoga 920 is a gorgeous piece of tech. It combines excellent build quality, awesome design, fantastic battery life, hybrid ultrabook functionality – all of that packed into one package.

The Yoga 920 comes packed with a 13.9-inch 4K multitouch display that offers a resolution of 3840-by-2160 pixels.  resolution boasts impressive color and clarity. Under the hood, the Yoga 920 is powered by an Intel Core i7-8550U processor running at 1.99-GHz.

You also get 8GB RAM that will smoothly run your games and photo- and video-editing applications. It will also make multi-tasking a walk in the park. The Yoga 920 also comes with 512GB of SSD storage.

The Yoga 920 features a 360° flip-and-fold design, which offers four modes — laptop, tablet, tent and stand. The Lenovo Transition functionality automatically switches specific applications to full screen when changing from PC to tablet, tent or stand position.

The Yoga 920 runs on Windows 10 and also supports Windows Ink, which lets you quickly jot down notes and ideas with ease. You also get the Intel UHD Graphics 620 to power all your graphics needs. The Yoga 920 weighs just 1.36-kgs and measures just 0.5-inches in thickness.

In terms of connectivity, the Yoga 920 comes with two USB Type-C / Thunderbolt 3 ports, one USB 3.0 port, and a 3.5mm audio jack. You also get a dual-band wireless network connectivity, a built-in HD webcam and a fingerprint scanner, just next to the touchpad.

The 3840-by-2160 screen offers bright and sharp images. While streaming Stranger Things on Netflix, we were impressed by the sheer display quality – the colours really popped. The display was fairly bright, with wide viewing angles that stayed true at up to 60 degrees to the right or left.

The Yoga 920 also comes with something that many laptops don’t: an active pen stylus. The stylus lets you use the laptop as an illustration tablet. It’s a battery-powered stylus and offers 4096 pressure levels, on-par with some pro-grade graphics tablets.

While the Yoga 920 may not look much in appearance, it is a performance powerhouse for its size. It offers very good performance – both for daily computing needs and for casual gaming sessions.

The Lenovo Yoga 920 is a fantastic ultraportable in its class. It comes with a vibrant screen, bold design, long battery life and powerful 8th Gen Core performance. This one is highly recommended.
