Sony is synonymous with quality products and it has been churning out quality gadgets for years now. The new Sony SRS XB41 is no different – these are some of the most good-looking wireless speakers we have come across in recent times. The XB41 also packs in some serious audio quality on the go.
The SRS XB41 is the latest addition to the Sony’s EXTRA BASS line. These speakers offer wireless connectivity through Bluetooth and NFC technologies. The new XB41 has been completely redesigned and is covered in a fabric that you find on most waterproof speakers you find on the market.
The speaker is covered by an LED strip that pulse to the music being played. The XB41 is powered by dual 58mm drivers and comes packed with the LIVE SOUND feature that offers an audio quality that mimics a concert experience, right in your living room.
While Sony claims a 24-hour battery life form the speakers on paper, we were able to clock roughly 18 hours of battery life. Since the speakers are waterproof and dustproof with an IP67 rating, you can use these speakers on the beach, without having to worry about damage from spillages.
You will find all the playback buttons, right on the top edge of the speaker. Buttons include pause, play, rewind, forward power button, and volume buttons. You also get a LIVE button, in addition to a dedicated button for answering calls. The rubber panel at the bottom acts as a slip resistant.
On the back, there is a fold out rubberised panel that houses the connectivity ports like audio in and USB charging ports. You get a DC input that can be used to charge the speaker, a micro-USB input, another way to charge it, but in our experience it took longer. There is a 3.5mm input, a USB output, which acts as a charging port to juice up your devices.
There are three buttons, one of them tells you how much battery is left in the speaker and also turns off the light strip if you hold it down. Another labelled “WPC” that stands for Wireless Party Chain that allows you to connect up to 100 wireless speakers via Bluetooth. The third button lets you turn a pair of speakers into L and R channels.
Audio quality is excellent. The XB41 is really made for bass lovers. Mids and lows are really good and the speaker is big and powerful. If you are looking for a durable speaker that gets loud, sounds good, and gets lots of heads to turn at parties, the Sony SRS XB41 should be on top of your list.
