Forrester Names FireEye as the Leader in External Threat Intelligence Services

FireEye has announced that it was named the Leader in the Forrester Research, Inc. report: “The Forrester New Wave: External Threat Intelligence Services, Q3 2018.” Of the 15 vendors evaluated, FireEye was the only company listed in the Leaders category. FireEye believes Forrester’s recognition validates its belief that a global, multi-source intelligence capability provides customers with high quality and actionable threat intelligence that empowers security teams to protect their organizations from cyber attacks.

In its assessment, after evaluating where the company stood in relation to the other solutions, Forrester rated FireEye Threat Intelligence as being differentiated in the following criteria:

  • dark web intelligence
  • technical intelligence
  • nation-state focus
  • financial crime focus
  • vision and execution
  • global reach

Forrester states that FireEye: “Leads the pack with its collection capabilities. The importance of iSIGHT Partners and Mandiant cannot be overlooked when assessing FireEye’s threat intelligence capabilities, which marry digital forensics, human intelligence (HUMINT), and a global sensor network.”

In addition, the Forrester report asserts that FireEye “Is the best fit for companies desiring a breadth of outcomes from a single vendor. Quilting together commercial vendors to accommodate your intelligence requirements can be a challenge. FireEye simplifies this process with an internationally recognized offering based on a wide collection capability.”

“For many years, FireEye has heavily invested in our threat intelligence capabilities. We recognized the need for many different sources of intelligence when we acquired both Mandiant in 2013 and iSIGHT Partners in 2016. The focus on this vision and strategy has paid off. We have built a global intelligence organization that knows more about attackers than other security companies, with analysts in 22 countries speaking 30+ languages. We use that knowledge to protect our customers and our global security community. We believe being named the Leader in the Forrester New Wave report validates our unique and comprehensive approach to protecting our customers against threat actors,” says Sandra Joyce, vice president and head of Global Intelligence at FireEye.

This recognition from Forrester follows the recent role of FireEye’s threat intelligence capabilities that helped leading social media platforms to thwart an extensive influence operation with ties to Iran.
