Complementing Modern Surveillance Tech with Powerful Storage Solutions

Speaking to Arabian Reseller, Khwaja Saifuddin, the Senior Sales Director for Middle East at WD, charts out his game plan for Intersec 2019

With the new year upon us, what areas in terms of security should businesses focus on?
Demand for surveillance cameras has grown quickly during the last decade; and is forecast to continue growing in the coming years. According to ResearchAndMarkets.com, the video surveillance market is expected to rise at approx. 16.4% during 2019-2024.

The reason the video surveillance industry is facing a huge growth spurt is because we use cameras more and more to thwart crime, guard our property and advance public safety. With increased need of surveillance cameras – and improvement and increase in HD resolution cameras and video footage, the surveillance storage market has had to evolve to respond to this changing need and to capitalize on the exciting expansion of opportunities it offers.

Beyond Surveillance is the latest campaign from WD that focuses on complementing modern surveillance technology with powerful storage solutions. Our WD Purple portfolio supports the capture of multiple high resolution video streams and large amounts of data to seize, save and read.

With video surveillance booming, a one-size-fits-all storage solution simply won’t work – and the Beyond Surveillance Campaign is designed with this in mind – it looks to Capture, Store and Analyze.

What is your theme of participation at Intersec 2019?
At this year’s Intersec, we will be showcasing our latest campaign from WD, Beyond Surveillance, which focuses on complementing modern surveillance technology with powerful storage solutions. Our WD Purple portfolio supports the capture of multiple high resolution video streams and large amounts of data to seize, save and read.

Which products and solutions will your company be focusing upon at the event?
At the event, we will be focusing on our expanded range of AI-enabled edge to core surveillance solutions. The video surveillance market in the Middle East is growing and this in turn puts the spotlight on storage solutions that support the exponential growth in surveillance data and footage. As the surveillance industry moves to higher-resolution cameras and new applications requiring real-time analytics, WDC’s full edge-to-core surveillance portfolio shifts focus from ‘seeing’ to safety and insights.

Built around the themes of capture, store and analyze, WDC will feature three key new products for the Middle East Market at Intersec: the WD Purple MicroSD card (Capture); the WD Purple12TB HDD (Store), and the enterprise class WD Ultrastar 14TB (Analyze).

The new WD Purple MicroSD card comes with 24/7 video recording capabilities for up to two years of continuous use. It is also built for endurance, being able to withstand the toughest of weather conditions, and even function seamlessly at extreme temperatures of -25 degrees to 85 degrees.

The WD Purple 12TB HDD is a surveillance-class drive with purpose-built Artificial Intelligence (AI) capabilities that support real-time detection of AI-triggered events at the point of capture with continuous background learning in emerging DVR and NVR systems with AI capabilities. It comes with support for up to 64 cameras and Deep Learning technology. The UltraStar HDD is targeted at Enterprise solutions and has 10 times the workload capacity of the regular desktop drives and also includes Deep Learning technology.

How important is an event such as Intersec for your regional strategy?
