Review: Lenovo ThinkBook 14

When it comes to business laptops, one of the brands that come to mind is Lenovo. The company has been carrying forward the legacy of ThinkPad range of business laptops for years now. It also recently announced a new range of thin and light ThinkBook series of laptops, which are available in 13, 14 and 15-inch variants.

We got a chance to review their ThinkBook 14 laptop, which is powered by Windows 10 Pro and comes packed with up to 10th Gen Intel Core processor. You also get optional Intel Optane memory, WiFi 6, and discrete graphics.

In terms of look and feel, Lenovo seems to have put lots of thought into the design of the ThinkBook 14, Both the base and display lid are made of aluminum, thus making it look and feel solid. It also offers a total of five USB ports, two of which are USB Type-C ports.

Under the hood, Lenovo pairs the 10th Gen Intel Core processor with Intel UHD Graphics, up to 24GB of DDR4 memory, and up to 2TB of storage. As you open the lid of the laptop, you come face to face with the 14-inch full HD IPS display. You also get stereo speakers with Dolby Audio and dual-array mic, and Skype for Business certified.

Since the laptop is made for business use, Lenovo packs the ThinkBook 14 to the brim with security features such as ThinkShutter camera cover, optional Smart Power Button with fingerprint reader, Kensington lock slot, Active Protection System (APS) and TPM 2.0 (firmware). It also comes with a 45Wh battery that offers a battery life of up to 9 hours. Lenovo also sells an optional 95W Type-C adapter which can rapidly charge the laptop’s battery.

In terms of performance, the Lenovo ThinkBook 14 offers great overall performance. It offers a modern design and top notch build quality, good overall performance, has a comfortable keyboard, and is good value for money at a price point starting at AED 2599. It will suit well for those wanting a dependable office laptop which is also easy to carry around, without burning a hole in their pockets.
