We recently reviewed the ASUS ProArt Studiobook 16 OLED (H5600) from the company’s creator laptops range, and today we are reviewing the new Vivobook Pro 16X OLED (M7600). This creator laptop is aimed at content creators, vloggers, and artists. Design-wise, it is less minimalistic and traditional than a Zenbook Pro, but not as colourful as ASUS’ regular Vivobooks.
The M7600 comes in two variants – a 14-inches version and a 16-inches model, which is reviewed here. Colour options include Meteor White, which is the one reviewed here, and 0˚ Black. The laptop uses a new weave-textured coating that helps prevent fingerprints and smudges.
The OLED NanoEdge panel used on the 16-inches variant is a 4K display with an aspect ratio of 16:10. You also get a 1000000:1 contrast ratio and impressive blacks. The display also supports 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut and comes packed with a blue light filter to keep your eyes safe during extended usage. The display is also PANTONE validated, which means you get accurate colours on projects produced using this laptop.
The laptop uses an FHD IPS panel and offers a response time of 0.2ms. The keyboard has a very unique design – ASUS has used some colour coding for different groups of keys. It also has an SSO fingerprint sensor for added security. Since the laptop is made for content creators, it comes with a huge touchpad that is very smooth to use.
Swiping in from the top right-hand corner invokes the ASUS DialPad. Once this is activated, you get the same UI and functionality as the physical dial seen on the Studiobook. In terms of I/O ports, you get plenty of options.
On the left edge, you will find two USB ports, and the power and battery indicator LEDs. On the right edge, you will find the power port, a full-size USB port, a full-size HDMI port, a Type-C port, a microSD card reader, and a 3.5mm combo jack.
Under the hood, the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED is powered by the AMD Ryzen 9 5900HX Mobile CPU, running at a clock speed of 3.3-GHz. Graphics are handled by an Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti GPU. You also get 32GB of RAM and 1TB of M.2 SSD storage. The battery on this laptop is rated at 96W.
Let’s talk a bit about the ASUS Dialpad feature. The Dialpad is designed to enhance the workflows of content creators, through the use of customisable macro controls for the operating system and third-party creative applications. With the keyboard hotkeys, you can use adaptive profiles for third-party applications, have hands-on control over multiple parameters, and benefit from efficient and accurate brush control.
The 96W battery on this one lasted 11 hours in our battery test, which involves video streaming, browsing the web, and running OpenGL tests at 150 nits of brightness. The laptop also supports fast-charge technology, which means you can charge a low battery to 60% in just 49 minutes. The backlit keyboard offers a very pleasant typing experience with a good amount of key travel.
The audio on the M7600 is fine-tuned by Harman Kardon. Meanwhile, the built-in array microphone makes sure your conversations during audio and video calls are crisp and crystal clear, without any ambient noise.
In terms of performance, the Vivobook Pro 16X OLED does produce some good numbers. On Geekbench 5, we clocked 1,572 points on single-core and 8,189 on multi-core tests. In our file transfer test, which involves a 25GB data dump that includes videos, music, zipped files, Word documents, spreadsheets, presentations, and so on, we were able to clock a file transfer speed of 1,017.63 MBps.
The Vivobook Pro 16X OLED is one of the best full-sized laptops in its class. It comes packed with a brilliant-looking 4K OLED, a powerful Ryzen 9 processor, a DialPad that makes workflows easier, and a very good battery life. It is thus an excellent choice for content creators, who are looking for a dependable laptop for work and play.
