Review: Dynabook Portégé X30L-K

Dynabook’s Portégé X30L-K is an ultra-lightweight laptop that comes packed with a 13.3-inches display. The overall form factor of the device is quite clean and neat, and the build quality is excellent. The device comes with a 180-degree hinge, which lets you lay the laptop flat on your desk.

It also has been tested for up to MIL-STD-810H military standards, which include drop test, dust test, humidity, temparature, and shock tests. In additiuon, the Portégé X30L-K features an Magnesium Alloy chassis.

In terms of the internals, you get to choose between 12th Generation Intel Core Processors i3-1215U, i5-1240P, or i7-1260P. You also get to choose from vPro versions i5-1250P and i7-1270P, or Intel Celeron 7305 processors. The review unit we received came configured with a 12th Gen Intel Core i7-1260P processor, running at a clock speed of 2.10-GHz.

In addition, you also get up to 32GB of RAM – our review unit had 16GB onboard. For storage, we had 512GB of NVMe M.2 PCIe Gen4 SSD built-in, though you can get it configured to up to 1TB. Graphics on this thing is handled by Intel Iris Xe Graphics.

In terms of I/O interfaces, you get aplenty. This includes two USB Type-C ports with Thunderbolt 4 which supports data transfer, power delivery and display port. In addition, there are two USB 3.1 (1 port supporting power off and charge), one Gigabit LAN port, one HDMI2.0-out supporting 1080p signal format, one external headphone (stereo/microphone combo socket), and one micro SD card slot.

For wireless connectivity, you get Intel AX211 2×2 Wi-Fi 6E support, Bluetooth 5.2, and optional LTE connectivity. The laptop comes with stereo speakers that support DTS Studio Sound, with AI-assisted noise reduction. The keyboard on this thing is backlit, while the touchpad comes with a fingerprint sensor built-in.

The laptop weighs less than a kg and uses a 53Wh battery to power everything up. On paper, the battery offers a battery life of up to 11 hours. In our tests, we were able to clock around 8 hours of battery life on a single charge. Since the laptop also supports quick charge technology, you will be able to get around 4 hours of battery life from a 30 minutes charge.
