Worldcoin Crypto Set to Launch by ChatGPT Founder Sam Altman

OpenAI’s CEO, Sam Altman, is set to launch Worldcoin, a new cryptocurrency project that incorporates iris biometrics. Earlier, Altman revealed the tokenomics of Worldcoin, and now, the distribution plan for Worldcoin tokens will be made public, as reported by sources familiar with the matter.

The Worldcoin project features an innovative iris-scanning AI called Orb, along with the World ID system and the Wold App wallet. While some experts have expressed concerns about privacy and security related to the iris-scanning technology, co-founder Sam Altman assures that the company will address these issues by open-sourcing the code. A recent message from Worldcoin’s official Twitter account hinted at an imminent launch, stating, “It’s time. 24.7.23.” However, specific details were not provided. Notably, the crypto exchange OKX has already opened the Worldcoin (WLD) recharge page, supporting ERC20 and Optimism.

Worldcoin successfully raised $115 million in a Series C funding round, with investments from Blockchain Capital, a16z, Bain Capital Crypto, and Distributed Global. Last year, the company secured $100 million at a valuation of $3 billion.

Arkham Intelligence data reveals that a total of 1 billion Worldcoin tokens have been issued, with the contract address for Worldcoin being 0x163f8C2467924be0ae7B5347228CABF260318753. A portion of the total WLD tokens was sent to the deposit addresses of crypto exchanges OKX and Bybit. Currently, over 95% of WLD is held in six wallet addresses.
