Synology, one of the leading global NAS brands, showcased its latest portfolio of network attached storage, IP surveillance solutions, and network equipment at the 36th edition of GITEX Technology Week. Synology’s solutions are committed to transforming the way users manage data, conduct surveillance, and manage network in the cloud era.
The Synology booth at GITEX was divided into dedicated sections, which included intelligent networking, home media center, business continuity, hybrid cloud, collaboration, and surveillance station. “As a believer of the ‘software-defined’ concept, we seek to utilise our strength in software development to make businesses and organizations more competitive, and help the MEA region become a more attractive destination for international companies to do business,” said Victor Wang, Sales Manager at Synology.
During the show, Synology unveiled its All-Flash-Storage FS3017 for the first time in the UAE for enterprises seeking storage solutions with uncompromising performance and throughput. With more and more data-oriented business seeking flash storage systems, FlashStation FS3017 promises to deliver over 200,000 IOPS in 4K random writing at an extremely low total cost of ownership of 0.8 USD per GB. It is also equipped with a built-in snapshot and replication application that is able to replicate 65,000 backup copies to offsite servers, ensuring near-instantaneous data protection.
“In enhancing business continuity, Synology has launched Synology Cloud2 (C2), which is a secure and seamless offsite data protection solution that connects your private cloud and Synology’s public cloud designed for DiskStation Manager (DSM) users. Synology users can back up data and set up a disaster recovery destination without changing the existing infrastructure, taking data and service security to a new level at a low cost. This is supported by a refined proscar Cloud Station and Cloud Sync for seamless file sync and back up,” said Olivia Lin, Product Manager at Synology.
To address the increasing need for cloud collaboration and long-distance file transfer, Synology has introduced an all-new private cloud collaboration suite, which includes cloud spreadsheet and document applications (Synology Office), communication app (Synology Chat), Calendar, and e-mail solution (MailPlus). Through extensive integration of all these applications, it allows users to collaborate on private cloud and boost productivity at work. For office and home users, Synology has also enhanced the interface and features for their Audio, Video and Photo Station offerings for a better multimedia experience.
Victor added, “The Middle East and Africa is forecasted to have world’s highest cloud traffic growth rate by 2019 with enterprises currently leveraging two or more cloud infrastructure vendors to support their workload requirements. We’ve been talking about the concept of hybrid cloud. Now with the Synology C2 service, Synology will move from a pure private cloud vendor to providing a comprehensive hybrid cloud solution.”
Capping off Synology’s portfolio of demo highlights at GITEX are new technologies in networking and surveillance. At the networking section, Synology showcased new innovations for the Synology Router Manager (SRM). Customers and partners visiting the booth learnt more about smart network management features such as Smart Connect, Smart WAN and intelligent web filtering tools that offer better control of bandwidth and accessible content from connected devices. At the Surveillance Station, Synology showcased new innovations in intelligent video monitoring with features such as a native desktop application for Windows with full Surveillance Station experience, as well as greater camera support and intelligent video analysis.
