Naviaddress Wants to Disrupt the Traditional Addressing System

Arabian Reseller speaks to Dmitri Moiseev, the CEO and Co-Founder of Naviaddress, about his company, the solutions it offers, and how it intends to use blockchain tech for innovation

What is Naviaddress all about?
Naviaddress, a blockchain ID project, which develops, markets and operates an address platform. The platform provides users with naviaddresses as unified digital IDs for any places or objects in physical and virtual worlds. Naviaddress is the first complete solution to the problem of addresses: it assigns a unique number-based address to any location or person worldwide.

It may also be able to function as “a smart address” because users can assign and store relevant information such as “last mile” navigation (embedded geographical coordinates, physical address, hours of operation, route description, photos and other relevant information), which makes it also easier to find complicated, remote locations and newly built structures. Beta version of the platform on the blockchain was released for public testing on March 2, 2018.

Tell us about the tech behind Naviaddress? What do you plan to achieve with Naviaddress?
Naviaddress location ID platform disrupts the traditional addressing system by giving users a convenient and fast way to replace their impractical and lengthy physical postal address with a Naviaddress, which is a short, easy-to-memorize and communicate sequence of digits. It may also be able to function as “a smart address” because users can assign and store relevant information such as “last mile” navigation (embedded geographical coordinates, physical address, hours of operation, route description, photos and other relevant information), which makes it easier to find complicated, remote locations or newly built structures. A Naviaddress can be used via online map or a mobile app.

What is Naviaddress’ USP? How does it stand apart from competition?

  1. Universal and consistent as it is clear in any language, digits-only format
  2. Convenient for verbal and digital communications
  3. Precise since geocoordinates are embedded (ideal for drone delivery and IoT)
  4. Simple to use since can be tagged to any point / object as well as large territories and POIs
  5. It is the postal and delivery address
  6. Personalized – designed to contain embedded metadata, additional information and user generated content
  7. Searchable in Internet – can be found by search engines and bots (Google, Bing, Yandex, etc.)
  8. Can be linked to the event (on-line purchase, on-line present, room/table booking, party invitation, etc).

What sort of problems is Naviaddress set out to solve?
The problem of unverified addresses due to mistakes in address spelling, address verification and “last mile” navigation is a common pain for delivery operators and e-commerce platforms.  Naviaddress makes it possible to provide accurate locations for e-retail and delivery services. It makes it possible to assign a short digital address to any place and object, to add a text description as “last mile” navigation (embedded geographical coordinates, physical address, route description, photos and other relevant information), which makes it easier to find any location and even newly-built structures.

Naviaddress falls into the category of blockchain ID management projects that will simplify the way transactions are conducted between common users and online retailers, delivery and other businesses as well as between users – without compromising privacy or security.

Today, up to 20% and up to 80% of addresses in developed and developing countries respectively are not verified from the first time due to mistakes in address spelling, address verification and “last mile” navigation problems. Naviaddress will provide trustless verified and geo coordinates precise ID of users’ locations for on-line and delivery businesses. Our solution will cut the waste drastically. Users can create and own via smartcontract as many personal and business naviaddresses as needed.

“There are 2 key advantages to the Naviaddress solution on the blockchain. First, simplification of internal verification process: every point, every object can be assigned with its own digital address that we verify just one time. After that, it is considered ‘verified’ and does not require extra time for subsequent validations. Secondly, every pick-up point is given a short digital address, which is easy to share and remember. These measures improve internal efficiency of a logistics provider and create a better customer experience” – says Leonid Zondberg, Commercial Director of DPD Russia (www.dpd.com).

Several examples:
International businesses in Europe are among the early adopters who are using Naviaddress to improve customer satisfaction. For example, Bee-garden in Cyprus uses Naviaddress [357] 5555 to fix an inconvenient issue they were experiencing on a daily basis: their farm is located out-of-town and the receptionist was spending a great deal of working time explaining the directions to find them to customers. With Naviaddress they created an address card with a detailed route description, open hours and information on social media channels. Now they send the message with the Naviaddress to the customers who plan to visit them. Naviaddress solved the problem quickly and permanently.

For international tourists an address communication in the local language is the pain point. Naviaddress solves the problem for Local HoReCa and retail outlets, authenticating them for international tourists and expats. Once on the blockchain, Naviaddress provides authentication and easy last mile navigation for local HoReCa and retail outlets. This is due to no language-specific – only digits, digital address, which is easy to find, share and communicate. Any business can create and own via smart contract as many business naviaddresses as needed within several minutes.

Can you tell us about the team behind Naviaddress?
Learn more about co-founders, who have built and sold businesses for cumulative value of $240 Million and Naviaddress Team, with the top team members having 15+ years of management and business experience in technology b2b and b2c businesses in such industries as IT, telecommunications, clean tech, smartphones, pharmaceutical distribution, VC investment management.

What do you think of the blockchain tech and the opportunities it brings along?
Addressing system on the blockchain has several advantages. Blockchain technology has three attributes which make it triply safe and less vulnerable: distribution, decentralization and autonomy. All addresses are distributed and stored across multiple computers in virtual space making it extremely complicated to compromise. Being decentralized means there is no central body managing the information, so anyone can add useful information which is then verified across the various storage channels.

And the blockchain makes it possible for all this information to be stored, called up and modified by a collective user-base so it is constantly being updated and improved with current data. There’s no single system administrator which means it runs autonomously all the time and is ready and accurate whenever you need it. All these factors ensure verified and reliable addressing information. A digital address system with verified by transaction trustless ID for any object and location will cut waste and reduce uncertainties and risks in transactions between users, and between users and businesses.

Once the addressing system is deployed on the blockchain, Naviaddress will enable 4 billion people in the world living without addresses to obtain digital postal delivery naviaddresses, verified by a transaction on the blockchain at almost no cost. Usage of naviaddresses will enable local governments to provide more citizens with essential services and create new markets for e-retailers and delivery businesses. Naviaddress platform shall provide verified by transaction and trustless postal and delivery digital addresses for billions of people worldwide with almost no cost. A user can create and own via smartcontract as many naviaddresses as he/she wants with no government involvement and within several minutes.

What sort of milestones do you plan to achieve with Naviaddress this year?
We are working on several partnerships in Europe and Asia with large address holders in delivery, e-retail and HoReCa businesses, such as booking.com, DPD, and plan cooperation with State Postal Services, AliExpress, Amazon, NinjaVan, etc.  to share verified addresses with the platform.

The Team is also working on the extension to adopt mobile addresses. After that we will be able to shift from identification of geographical location (static and movable) to the universal identification, thus introducing a variety of new kinds of real and virtual assets with practically unlimited businesses opportunities.

Any other info you would like to add?
We deployed Naviaddress addressing system in the end 2016. As of February 2018, there are 1.5 million naviaddresses in Naviaddress addressing system, including 1.3 million business naviaddresses, with the total number of registered active Naviaddress app users exceeding 60,000 people (including web, iOS and Android). Beta version of the platform on the blockchain was released for public testing on March 2, 2018.
