Review: XTouch X

XTouch is back with its value offerings in the smartphone space with the new XTouch X. This one is being touted to be a true wireless smartphone that offers true freedom from all sorts of cables.

The XTouch X comes packed in a curved and slim metal frame. The phone features a 5.8-inch display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. The screen is an IPS display that boasts an HD+ resolution.

The phone comes in two different variations. One is a standard smartphone pack available at a price point of AED 699. The other variation is a gift pack, the one we received for this review.

The gift pack comes with the XTouch X smartphone, a pair of wireless sports earphones and a power bank that also doubles up as a wireless charger. This particular gift pack is available for a price of AED 819.

The phone has a sort of heft to it, making it seem and feel more like a premium phone, though the price tag points at it being a mid-range device. The overall build quality is very good.

On the front, as mentioned before, you get a 5.8-inch IPS HD+ display with an 18:9 aspect ratio. On top of the display, you get a 5MP camera on the front for all your selfies.

Turn the phone around and you come face to face with an 8MP Sony camera at the back. You also get a fingerprint scanner at the back, just below the camera module. On the right edge you get the hybrid SIM tray that takes in two nano SIMs or one nano SIM and a micro SD card.

On the left edge, you get the volume rockers and the power button. On the bottom edge, you get the micro USB port for all your charging and data syncing needs. On the top edge, you will find a lone 3.5mm audio jack.

Under the hood, the XTouch X is powered by a MediaTek MT6737H Quadcore ARM-A53 processor running at a clock speed of 1.3GHz. It comes with 2GB RAM and 16GB of built-in storage, which can be further expanded to up to 128GB, using a microSD card.

The phone runs Android 7.0 OS, though no info on whether an Oreo update will be pushed through, has been announced. The phone is available in two colours – black and white – and weighs just 195-gms.

We ran the AnTuTu benchmark on the device and we ended up with very mid-range sort of performance points. The performance of the rear camera is good, but not great. The front selfie camera also offers average performance.

The screen of the XTouch X is quite bright with good saturation of colours. The phone is breezy enough for day to day activities. We did not find any lag when switching between multiple apps.

In terms of battery life, we were able to eke out around a day’s worth of battery life, before the device needed charging again. But since the gift pack comes with a battery pack, you are sorted if you are traveling and need to quickly charge the phone.

For a price of AED 819, with the wireless earphones and the power bank cum wireless charger, the XTouch X is a very good buy. If you are looking for a smartphone that offers latest features at a pocket-friendly price, you could check out the XTouch X.

Price: AED 699 (standard pack), AED 819 (gift pack)
