HTC Announces Blockchain Phone Exodus

HTC has announced that it is ready to launch its first blockchain-enabled phone, Exodus. The phone will support a number of cryptocurrencies including Bitcoin, Lightning Networks, Ethereum, and Dfinity.

The Exodus will come with its own universal wallet, Cold Wallet, and dedicates to decentralized applications (DApp) with its own advanced security features, the company said. HTC is hoping that all its Exodus phones will act as nodes for facilitating blockchain transactions, without added mining fees.

And using DApp, the privacy of users’ personal data and Internet access will be better protected. Phil Chen, who has spearheaded HTC’s development of HTC Vive VR technologies and devices, will serve as the chief decentralised officer of the new blockchain unit.

HTC has not yet released other key details such as hardware specifications, commercial availability and price of the blockchain phone.
