Pure Storage Intros the Enterprise Data Cloud

Pure Storage has launched the Enterprise Data Cloud (EDC). This new standard for data and storage management simplicity aims to help organisations focus on business outcomes rather than infrastructure complexities. With data volumes rapidly increasing, fueled by AI, and business demands evolving at an unprecedented pace, traditional storage models often lead to fragmentation, silos, and uncontrolled data sprawl. Organisations must shift their focus from merely managing storage to understanding the how, where, and why of their data usage. This change in mindset is crucial for reducing risks, costs, and operational inefficiencies.
An EDC represents an industry-changing architectural approach to data storage and management. It provides organisations with the ability to manage their data easily across their entire estate with exceptional agility, efficiency, and simplicity. With an EDC architecture, IT teams can centrally manage a virtualised cloud of data with unified control, spanning on-premises, public cloud, and hybrid environments. This enables intelligent, autonomous data management and governance across the entire landscape.
The Pure Storage platform allows customers to build their own EDC, redefining how data is delivered, governed, and consumed. The platform unifies data from across an organisation’s estate into a virtualised cloud, governed by an intelligent control plane for easy management and delivered as a service.
“It’s time to stop managing storage and start managing data. With AI increasing the potential value of enterprise data, and cyber-threats imperiling it, data storage architectures and the tools for managing data have not kept pace. Only Pure Storage has innovated an architectural approach that enables enterprise customers to manage their global data estate. Pure Fusion allows customers to create their own global Enterprise Data Cloud empowering them to manage their data with the control, automation and tracking needed to lead in a data-driven world,” said Charles Giancarlo, Chairman and CEO, Pure Storage.
At the core of this autonomous platform is Pure Fusion, which unifies storage as a pool of adaptable resources. Pure Fusion is built directly into the arrays, which are self-discoverable and can automatically identify a broader fleet without requiring extensive storage admin configuration. Administrators can manage the entire fleet from any system, as every array acts as an endpoint.
New features for enhanced management and security include:
- Pure Fusion with Workload Automation: Pure Fusion now includes presets and remote provisioning for fleetwide file, block, and object storage. This offers administrators greater flexibility based on specific workload needs and eliminates the requirement for pre-planning and fine-tuning deployments, reducing non-compliance risks and improving resilience.
- Reducing the Risk of Human Error and Strengthening Security: The platform features automation across the full stack, with policy-driven orchestration and self-service capabilities designed to eliminate issues arising from manual operations like provisioning and migration. Built-in compliance and enhanced cyber resilience minimise risk through integrated security and governance policies, redefining intelligent storage management.
- Workflow Orchestration: The Pure Storage platform now offers orchestrated workflows that can be deployed across the entire IT environment. Leveraging thousands of existing connectors to third-party applications including Cisco, Microsoft, VMware, ServiceNow, and Slack, users can easily deploy presets and application “recipes” across storage, compute, network, database, and application configurations. Customers can run pre-set recipes, build custom ones for their environment, or utilise partner recipes for application-to-infrastructure automation.
- World Class Anomaly Threat Detection with Rubrik Security Cloud: Rubrik is the first cyber recovery partner to integrate with Pure Fusion and its new workflow orchestration. When Rubrik Security Cloud detects a threat, Pure Fusion automates the tagging of indelible SafeMode snapshots with Rubrik’s ransomware scanning, helping to pinpoint clean data for quick restoration. For more precise recovery needs, Rubrik backups offer a secondary path. Managed through Pure1 Workflow Automation, this integration reduces manual effort, improves compliance, and aims for near-zero Recovery Time Objective (RTO), enabling organisations to recover quickly and confidently with minimal disruption.
- CrowdStrike LogScale and Pure Storage Hunt Threats and Retain Logs: CrowdStrike and Pure Storage have partnered to deliver a validated on-premises storage solution specifically optimised for Falcon LogScale deployments. This combination of Pure Storage’s resilient, secure, high-performance storage infrastructure with Falcon LogScale’s powerful log analytics, instant search, and security capabilities offers organisations enhanced scalability and accelerated threat detection, hunting, investigation, and response, all within controlled, self-hosted environments.
- Pure Protect VMware to VMware Recovery: Pure Protect now offers recovery from VMware to VMware, in addition to existing recovery options for AWS, on-premises to cloud, and self-service disaster recovery assessments. Designed for modern hybrid environments, it streamlines recovery workflows with on-demand recovery and flexible failover options for cost-effective business continuity.
- AI Copilot is now Generally Available: The AI Copilot functions as an always-on assistant, providing personalised, fleet-aware insights. It includes agents available for various topics, such as security information, performance issues, digital commerce, sustainable operations, and support center inquiries.
