Lenovo Unveils New Legion 9i (18″, 10) Gaming Laptop

At its Tech World Shanghai 2025 event, Lenovo announced the launch of the new Lenovo Legion 9i (18”, 10), a gaming laptop designed for both gamers and game developers. The device is “packed with features that not just deliver the ultimate gaming experience, but the ultimate game development experience”.

Jun Ouyang, Lenovo’s Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Consumer Segment, Intelligent Devices Group, stated, “The most powerful gaming laptops deliver seamless performance even with the most demanding titles, and the new Lenovo Legion 9i (18”, 10) laptop is designed to set a new standard”. He added that the laptop, “Built with top-tier hardware and next-generation AI software innovations, it combines exceptional speed and intelligence — not just for immersive gaming, but also to empower game developers, AI engineers, and designers with the high performance and optional 2K 3D support they need to bring their visions to life”.

The Lenovo Legion 9i (18”, 10) is engineered for game developers, visual artists, and 3D professionals who require a device capable of running their favorite games and bringing their own designs to fruition. The 18-inch PureSight display offers up to 4K resolution in 2D and features optional 2K 3D support, allowing designers to visualize their 3D models without the need for a headset or separate 3D display. This 3D capability is achieved through a combination of eye-tracking and a lenticular lens array. Additionally, Lenovo 3D Studio supports 3D viewing for various video, image, and streaming formats, along with 3D display for 30 games and numerous creation applications.

Both gamers and developers can benefit from the Dual Mode functionality, which allows switching between a 240Hz refresh rate at 4K and a 440Hz refresh rate at FHD for lightning-fast, smooth graphics. The display boasts a 93% screen-to-body ratio, maximizing the viewing area with slim bezels.

With the increasing integration of AI into workflows, game development timeframes have significantly shortened. The Lenovo Legion 9i (18”, 10) incorporates AI-powered hardware and software, including the Lenovo AI Core chip and Lenovo AI Engine+, which dynamically adjust settings to optimize performance for both gaming and rendering. Lenovo Legion Space leverages AI to synchronize the device’s RGB lighting with in-game sound and visuals, enhancing immersion. The software also includes AI-powered features such as Game Coach, Game Clip Master, and Game Companion to help gamers improve skills, create shareable content, and provide in-game assistance.

For studio-grade performance, the Lenovo Legion 9i (18”, 10) offers four RAM slots and four SSD slots, one of which is PCIe Gen 5. It supports up to 192GB of dual-channel DDR5 RAM and up to 8TB of SSD storage. The laptop is equipped with an Intel Core Ultra 9 275HX processor and up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5090 GPU, delivering a combined total of up to 280W CPU and GPU load. The Lenovo Legion Coldfront: Vapor thermal system, featuring a vapor chamber, hyper chamber, and a quad-fan system, ensures the system remains cool under heavy loads and operates quietly at less than 48dB in Performance Mode.

Each Lenovo Legion 9i (18”, 10) features a unique top cover made from eight layers of hand-applied, forged aviation-grade carbon fiber, resulting in a lighter and stronger lid than aluminum. Connectivity options include HDMI and DC in ports on the rear, and a variety of ports on the sides, including two Thunderbolt 5 ports on the left. The Lenovo Legion 9i (18”, 10) will be showcased at Unreal Fest in Orlando, Florida, starting June 2nd, offering early hands-on experiences for gamers and developers.

The laptop comes with three complimentary months of PC Game Pass and is eligible for Lenovo’s CO2 Offset Services, allowing users to offset estimated carbon emissions associated with their device. To complement the laptop, the Lenovo Legion 18” Armored Backpack II is available, offering durability, convenience, and style for transporting the device. The Lenovo Legion 9i (18”, 10) is expected to be available starting June 2025, with an anticipated starting price of 4499 EUR (inc. VAT).
