Tenable has announced a significant expansion of its Tenable One platform with the release of Tenable AI Exposure. This new solution provides comprehensive capabilities to see, manage, and control the risks associated with generative AI.
Unveiled at Black Hat USA 2025, Tenable AI Exposure goes beyond simply discovering AI usage. It provides an end-to-end approach that includes risk management and policy enforcement for enterprise AI platforms like ChatGPT Enterprise and Microsoft Copilot. The company notes that as businesses rapidly adopt generative AI to increase productivity, they are creating new and complex security vulnerabilities. Security teams often lack visibility into how employees are using these tools, what sensitive data might be exposed, and how the tools could be exploited by attackers. Tenable now offers a unified solution to address the entire lifecycle of these AI security challenges.
“Simply discovering shadow AI isn’t enough,” said Steve Vintz, Co-CEO and CFO of Tenable. “A true exposure management strategy requires an end-to-end solution that lets organizations discover their entire AI footprint, manage the associated risks, and govern its use according to their policies. That’s exactly what we are delivering today.” Vintz added, “With Tenable AI Exposure, we’re giving organizations the visibility and control they need to safely embrace the promise of generative AI without introducing unacceptable risk. This is a critical step in the evolution of exposure management”.
The new Tenable AI Exposure capabilities, which can be deployed in minutes with an agentless approach, include:
- Comprehensive AI Discovery: This unifies insights from Tenable AI Aware, AI Security Posture Management (AI-SPM) scanning, and continuous monitoring to identify all sanctioned and unsanctioned AI usage across the enterprise. It provides a deep understanding of user interactions, data flows, and activities that could introduce risk.
- AI Exposure Management and Prioritization: Using AI-SPM, organizations can identify, prioritize, and manage the risk of AI exposure, including from sensitive data leakage, misconfigurations, and unsafe integrations with external tools.
- Governance and Control of AI Usage: This feature enforces security guardrails and organizational policies to control how AI is used. It helps prevent risky user behaviors and mitigates threats like prompt injections, jailbreaks, and malicious output manipulation.
Tenable AI Exposure is integrated into the Tenable One platform, providing a unified view of risk across the entire attack surface. The combination of Tenable AI Aware, AI-SPM, and the new governance features gives customers comprehensive capabilities to discover, manage, and secure enterprise AI usage.
