OpenAI’s Altman and Google’s Pichai to Lead Tech Delegation at India AI Impact Summit 2026

Global AI leaders including OpenAI CEO Sam Altman and Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai are set to travel to New Delhi this week to participate in the India AI Impact Summit 2026, a high‑profile technology gathering aimed at shaping the future of artificial intelligence.
The summit — hosted by the Government of India from February 16–20 at Bharat Mandapam — will bring together heads of state, policymakers, and executives from leading tech companies to discuss AI’s opportunities, challenges, and global impact. Besides Altman and Pichai, the event is expected to feature participation from international leaders like French President Emmanuel Macron and other influential tech CEOs.
Altman, whose company develops ChatGPT and other advanced AI models, has highlighted India’s rapid adoption of AI tools and its importance as one of OpenAI’s largest markets. On the eve of the summit, he pointed out that India now ranks among the top countries worldwide in weekly active users of ChatGPT, underlining the country’s role in AI innovation and adoption.
For Google, Pichai’s presence reinforces the company’s ongoing engagement with AI development and global strategy, as tech giants increasingly look to collaborate with governments and industries to drive responsible AI growth. The summit agenda includes discussions on AI governance, inclusive development, and how nations can balance technological progress with ethical considerations.
As the event kicks off, India aims to cement its standing as a key voice in international AI dialogue, especially on issues of access, regulation, and equitable innovation. The gathering underscores the country’s growing influence in the global technology landscape and highlights how multinationals like OpenAI and Google are engaging with governments beyond traditional Western markets.
