Amazon Rolls Out Redesigned Fire TV App with Enhanced Content Discovery

Amazon has begun rolling out a redesigned version of its Fire TV app, transforming it from a simple remote control into a more comprehensive companion for discovering and managing streaming content.
Previously used mainly as a backup remote, the updated mobile app now allows users to browse shows and movies, manage watchlists, and start playback on their TV directly from their smartphones. The redesign effectively turns the phone into a second screen for exploring entertainment options.
According to Amazon, the new experience makes it easier for users to add recommendations from friends or save titles to a watchlist even when they are away from home, creating a more seamless connection between mobile devices and Fire TV.
The updated app is currently rolling out to users in multiple markets including the United States, Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
The redesign aligns with the new Fire TV interface introduced last month, which places greater emphasis on content discovery while simplifying navigation. The refreshed design features rounded corners, updated gradients, clearer typography, and improved spacing to make browsing easier.
A streamlined top navigation bar now includes clearly labeled categories such as Movies, TV, Live TV, Sports, and News, while the search function has been repositioned for quicker access.
Within these sections, users can see the content they are currently watching alongside recommendations from their subscribed services. The interface organizes suggestions into “For You” rows, highlighting trending titles, free content, and popular shows and movies available across platforms.
The changes reflect the rapid expansion of streaming services, which has made content discovery more complex. With the updated app and interface, Amazon aims to position Fire TV as a central hub for finding and managing streaming entertainment, rather than simply a launcher for individual apps.
