stc Group has introduced the second phase of its ‘New Calling’ initiative, launching a pilot service in Riyadh that enables real-time Arabic–English translation during voice calls.
The new feature allows users to speak naturally in their preferred language while hearing an instant translation of the other caller’s speech. Powered by advanced large language models (LLMs) and the company’s enhanced New Calling network, the system is designed to deliver accurate, context-aware translations in real time.
Currently available to a select group of customers in Riyadh, the pilot follows the initial announcement of the New Calling initiative in 2024. The rollout is part of stc’s broader effort to improve communication experiences and support the Kingdom’s increasingly diverse user base.
The service relies on low-latency network processing and AI-driven speech models optimized for both Arabic and English. According to the company, the technology is designed to ensure natural conversations while maintaining strong standards of privacy and information security.
By integrating translation directly into voice calls, stc aims to simplify cross-language communication for both residents and visitors — whether for business discussions or everyday conversations.
The pilot phase will expand gradually in the coming months as the company gathers user feedback and evaluates performance, with plans to introduce additional languages and expand the service nationwide.
