Submer and ACES Explore Partnership to Expand AI Data Centre Capacity in Saudi Arabia

Submer and Saudi Arabia-based Advanced Communications & Electronics Systems (ACES) have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to explore joint projects aimed at expanding data centre capacity for artificial intelligence (AI) and high-performance computing across the Kingdom.

Under the agreement, Submer will contribute engineering and technology expertise across the data centre project lifecycle, while ACES will support local delivery, infrastructure services and potential investment.

The proposed collaboration covers facility planning and consultancy, the construction of new data centres and retrofitting of existing sites, and the integration of computing, networking and monitoring systems. It also includes power and thermal management solutions, such as liquid and immersion cooling, as well as potential co-investment in data centre capacity.

The agreement comes as Saudi Arabia advances its Vision 2030 digital transformation and AI ambitions. Increasing demand for AI computing is placing greater demands on data centre power infrastructure, cooling systems and facility design, particularly as rack densities rise.

Khalid Aljamed, General Manager for the Middle East, Turkey and Africa at Submer, said the partnership aims to address the infrastructure requirements of high-density AI workloads by combining engineering, construction, integration and financing capabilities.

Dr Akram Aburas, Group CEO of ACES, said the agreement brings together Submer’s engineering and technology expertise with ACES’ local delivery capabilities and investment resources to support the expansion of Saudi Arabia’s digital infrastructure.

The MoU establishes a framework for the companies to pursue potential projects together. Further details on specific projects, investment commitments and implementation timelines were not provided.
