HP Releases HP Indigo 6K+ Digital Press for Label Production

HP has introduced the HP Indigo 6K+ Digital Press. This new press is designed for digital label production, aiming for increased productivity, operational stability, and versatility. It is an evolution of the HP Indigo 6K, which has over 2,300 global installations. The HP Indigo 6K+ is operated by the SmartControlSystem and incorporates intelligent automation. It includes AI-powered tools, automation, and diagnostic capabilities. HP stated that the press is built for maximum uptime. The HP Indigo 6K+ will be available globally by the end of July 2025.
Noam Zilbershtain, VP & General Manager, HP Indigo, stated, “As we advance HP Indigo’s vision of Nonstop Digital Printing, we are proud to introduce the new HP Indigo 6K+ Digital Press, featuring the groundbreaking SmartControlSystem for enhanced robustness and nonstop production. This press is designed to help converters confidently say ‘yes’ to any label job today and in the future. With intelligent automation, embedded AI, advanced diagnostics, and a proven digital platform at its core, the HP Indigo 6K+ opens up infinite opportunities for growth.”
The SmartControlSystem is designed to improve diagnostics, uptime, and press reliability. This system aims to enable converters to produce more jobs per shift, reduce waste, and minimize unplanned maintenance. The HP Indigo 6K+ also features automation and AI-powered tools such as HP PrintOS Suite, Automatic Alert Agent 2.0 (AAA 2.0), HP Spot Master, and HP Nio, providing real-time insights, shorter setup, troubleshooting, and automated color management.
Jordan Fischer, Plant Manager, Summit Labels, a beta customer, commented, “With the new SmartControlSystem, we are able to maximize our productivity by delivering up to 15% increased uptime, meaning Summit Labels can produce more jobs per shift while minimizing waste. As one of the first beta customers of the HP Indigo 6K+ we are confident the new digital solution satisfies our customers’ needs. We have come a long way working with HP, and we are more than satisfied with the reliability of the HP Indigo 6K+. We have been impressed with its scaling and heightened productivity.”
Tom Schouten, Production Manager, Geostick, another early adopter of the original HP Indigo 6K, stated, “At Geostick, we are constantly striving to stay ahead of the market by integrating cutting-edge digital print solutions into our operations. As one of the early adopters of the original HP Indigo 6K, we’ve seen firsthand how HP Indigo technology continually evolves to meet the demands of more and more modern production floors. With the HP Indigo 6K+, we’re now experiencing even greater image stability along with advancements in troubleshooting that have streamlined maintenance and reduced downtime.”
The HP Indigo 6K+ is designed for short-run, high-mix print jobs. It supports a wide range of substrates and applications, including smart labels with brand protection features and data-driven design tools. The press is capable of handling various label types, such as pressure-sensitive labels, shrink sleeves, in-mold labels (IML), wrap-arounds, laminated tubes, flexible packaging, and folding carton. It features seven ink stations and spot colors, covering up to 97% of the color gamut and supporting specialty inks like Silver ElectroInk, Invisible and Fade-Resistant inks, and a White ink portfolio.
HP states that the Indigo 6K+ aims to reduce media-related CO₂ emissions per job by up to 20% and cut media waste through shorter job setup and execution. It supports production with substrates containing recycled and renewable materials. The press’s availability is also improved with new supplies, which HP states can save maintenance time and reduce supply waste.
HP Indigo will demonstrate the HP Indigo 6K+ at Labelexpo Europe 2025 in Barcelona at booths #E25 and #D21 in hall 5.
