Review: ROG Chakram X Wireless Gaming Mouse

Have you ever used a mouse that comes with a built-in joystick? Well, we had an opportunity to test out the ROG Chakram X Wireless Gaming Mouse and we have to say, it’s a unique gaming mouse since it also offers hot-swap switches.

The ROG Chakram X is a wireless RGB gaming mouse, which comes packed with a 36,000-dpi ROG AimPoint optical sensor and offers a polling rate of 8000 Hz. You also get low-latency tri-mode connectivity, thanks to RF 2.4 GHz, Bluetooth and wired options. With the Bluetooth connectivity option, you can also pair the mouse with up to three devices.

There are 11 programmable buttons on the mouse, an analogue joystick that we spoke about earlier and hot-swappable micro switch sockets supporting both 3-pin mechanical switches and 5-pin optical micro switches. The mouse offers a very ergonomic design that allows you to rest your palm on it comfortably. There’s even a thumb rest for a better user experience when engaging in longer gaming sessions.

Underneath the device, you will find two buttons, one that adjusts the DPI and the other that lets you pair the Chakram X with your PC or laptop. You will also find a slider that allows you to toggle between 2.4 GHz wireless, Bluetooth, or wired modes.

Inside the box, you get the ROG Chakram X, along with a paracord cable, a 2.4 GHz dongle, some paperwork, extra switches, extra buttons, and a carry case. The mouse can be charged by either using the bundled cable or via wireless Qi chargers.

Since the cover of the mouse and the buttons are magnetic, removing components and customizing them is a breeze. The ROG Chakram X is also a gaming mouse that has been officially verified for NVIDIA Reflex Latency Analyzer to monitor the responsiveness of the device.

The get the best gaming experience out of the ROG Chakram X, you need to use it in the wired mode so that the 8000 Hz polling rate gets enabled. Using the joystick in games such as Grand Theft Auto was a good experience. Given the high polling rate and the DPI it offers, the ROG Chakram X is a gaming mouse that’s built around performance.
