Collabora Productivity has released Collabora Office 26.04, the first major update to its open-source desktop office suite for Linux, macOS and Windows, introducing built-in AI assistance alongside a host of usability, editing and compatibility improvements.
The update expands on the initial desktop release by making the suite feel more native across supported operating systems while incorporating the latest features from CODE 26.04, the company’s development edition.
One of the headline additions is an optional built-in AI assistant, available across Writer, Calc and Impress. Users can draft and refine documents in Writer, create and troubleshoot formulas in Calc, and transform notes into presentation slides or fact-check content in Impress without leaving the application. The AI feature is disabled by default, allowing users to enable it only if required.
Collabora Office 26.04 also introduces smarter editing tools, including document comparison and a multi-page view in Writer, a new table design tab for styling tables, and calculated pivot fields in Calc.
To improve the desktop experience, the suite now offers native menus, file dialogs and printing support, operating system-matched dark mode, file-type associations and a redesigned start screen that provides quick access to recent files, templates and settings. The update also adds a high-fidelity clipboard for more reliable copy-and-paste operations across applications.
The release further enhances compatibility with Microsoft Office formats by improving interoperability with Word, Excel and PowerPoint documents, while accessibility has been strengthened through a range of enhancements, including a new BITV 2.0 accessibility audit for Writer conducted by a certified German testing organisation.

Collabora Office 26.04 is available as a free download for Windows through the Microsoft Store, macOS via the Mac App Store, and Linux through Flathub, with Snap packages also available.
