Sandisk Targets Next-Generation NAS Workloads with New High-Endurance SSDs

Sandisk has introduced its new SANDISK NAS SSD portfolio, designed to deliver high performance, endurance and scalability for network-attached storage (NAS) environments used by prosumers, creative professionals and small businesses. The portfolio includes the SANDISK NAS 600 SATA SSD and SANDISK NAS 800 NVMe SSD, targeting users looking to modernise existing NAS systems, accelerate storage through caching and tiering, or deploy all-flash NAS environments for demanding workloads.

Designed for creative professionals and small businesses, the SANDISK NAS 600 SATA SSD provides an upgrade path for users replacing HDDs with SSDs or adding solid-state caching to existing NAS systems. The 4TB model offers up to 2,500 TBW and up to 2.25 million hours MTTF, while sequential read speeds reach up to 560MB/s. Its 2.5-inch, 7mm SATA form factor is compatible with supported 3.5-inch NAS drive bays, while the absence of mechanical components enables quieter operation.

The drive is available in capacities from 500GB to 4TB and is designed for multi-drive and RAID configurations, collaborative workflows and content-intensive workloads. For more demanding applications, the SANDISK NAS 800 NVMe SSD uses PCIe 5.0 and offers endurance of up to 14 PBW on the 7.68TB model.

The SSD delivers up to 2.3 million/2 million IOPS for random read/write workloads and sequential read/write speeds of up to 14,900/13,200MB/s. It is designed for all-flash and hybrid NAS environments supporting applications such as databases, virtualisation, content creation and agentic AI.

Available in capacities ranging from 960GB to 7.68TB, the NAS 800 uses SANDISK TLC 3D NAND and has been tested with a range of leading NAS systems for M.2 2280 compatibility. As prosumers and businesses increasingly use NAS systems as private cloud platforms for data-intensive and AI-related workloads, the new SSDs are aimed at improving local storage performance while supporting always-on, multi-user environments.
