Toshiba Brings S300 AI Surveillance Hard Drive to Retail Channels

Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH (Toshiba) has announced the availability of its S300 AI Surveillance Hard Drive in retail packaging, making its AI-optimised surveillance storage more accessible to professional users through retail and e-commerce channels. Originally introduced in bulk packaging in November 2025, the S300 AI is now being offered in retail packaging to accommodate a wider range of purchasing requirements while retaining the performance and reliability of the existing drive.

The retail version is targeted at professional surveillance deployments, including system integrators, IT resellers and security installers working with advanced video analytics. The broader availability gives customers more options for purchasing replacement drives or smaller quantities through established retail and online channels, while retaining storage specifically designed for AI-enabled surveillance workloads.

The S300 AI is designed to handle the combination of sequential recording and random-access workloads generated when AI software continuously analyses recorded video. The range offers capacities from 8TB[1] to 24TB and is optimised for high-resolution recording and AI-enabled surveillance applications.

The drive supports up to 64 camera streams[2], along with 32 additional AI streams, making it suitable for demanding commercial and public-sector deployments across sectors such as transportation, manufacturing, smart cities, healthcare, finance and logistics.

The S300 AI is also designed for long-term operation in mission-critical environments. It has a workload rating of 550TB[3] per year, an MTTF of up to 2.5 million hours[4], support for multi-bay RAID systems and a five-year limited warranty.

“AI-enabled surveillance is expanding beyond traditional large-scale installations,” says Larry Martinez-Palomo, Vice President and Head of the Storage Products Division, Toshiba Electronics Europe GmbH. “By introducing the S300 AI in retail packaging, professional customers can now easily source these drives through their preferred channels, while continuing to benefit from the trusted performance and reliability that Toshiba surveillance storage is known for.”

The Toshiba S300 AI in retail packaging is expected to become available from the end of Q3 or beginning of Q4 2026.
