King’s Jeddah Selects InterSystems IntelliCare to Advance Digital Healthcare in Saudi Arabia
King’s College Hospital London – Jeddah (King’s Jeddah) is set to become the first hospital in Saudi Arabia to implement InterSystems IntelliCare, a next-generation electronic health record (EHR) platform designed with artificial intelligence embedded across clinical workflows.
The hospital has signed an agreement with InterSystems to transition from TrakCare, building on an established technology relationship and its existing digital healthcare infrastructure. The move is part of King’s Jeddah’s wider strategy to use technology to improve clinical efficiency, patient outcomes and the delivery of international healthcare standards in Saudi Arabia.
Established in Jeddah in 2025 as an extension of King’s College Hospital London, King’s Jeddah has more than 130 specialist consultants across 35 clinical specialties and 10 centres of excellence. The hospital brings the clinical protocols and academic oversight of the London institution to Saudi Arabia, with a focus on complex and critical care.
The transition to IntelliCare builds on the hospital’s experience with TrakCare. Rather than introducing an entirely new EHR environment, King’s Jeddah will build on an existing platform and operational understanding while adding AI-driven capabilities and automation.
InterSystems IntelliCare is designed to integrate AI directly into clinical workflows rather than relying on separate AI applications. Its capabilities include AI-assisted documentation, clinical workflow intelligence, decision support and patient communication.
One of the key features is ambient clinical documentation, which uses AI to transform clinical conversations into structured medical records. This is intended to reduce the administrative burden on clinicians while supporting more complete and accurate documentation.
The platform also incorporates intelligence into workflows covering areas such as ordering, prescribing, results review and messaging. Its interoperability capabilities include support for HL7 FHIR and SMART on FHIR, enabling integration with the wider digital healthcare ecosystem in Saudi Arabia.

According to Diaa Kamal, Chief Information Officer, King’s College Hospital London – Jeddah, the hospital’s experience with TrakCare provided the foundation for the transition.

The implementation reflects the broader shift in healthcare IT towards platforms where AI is embedded within core clinical systems rather than added through standalone tools and integrations.
