Saudi Arabia Emerges as One of the World’s Fastest-Growing Data Centre Markets

Saudi Arabia is emerging as one of the world’s fastest-growing data centre markets, with live IT power increasing by 57% since 2024, according to Savills’ Impacts global thought leadership programme. The Kingdom ranks joint fourth globally alongside Finland in terms of recent growth in live IT power, highlighting the accelerating investment in the infrastructure needed to support Saudi Arabia’s expanding digital economy.

Savills Research, using data from DC Byte, places Saudi Arabia among the top 10 fastest-growing data centre markets globally. Four other EMEA markets also feature in the ranking, with Finland in third place, Denmark sixth, France ninth and Portugal tenth. While the growth rates are significant, total data centre capacity across these emerging markets remains relatively small compared with established global hubs. This suggests considerable scope for further expansion as demand for digital infrastructure increases.
In Saudi Arabia, the expansion is being supported by government-backed digital economy initiatives and growing demand for cloud computing and artificial intelligence infrastructure. The Kingdom is also investing in the power, land and connectivity required to support hyperscale and enterprise data centre operators.
The development comes as Saudi Arabia advances its broader Vision 2030 agenda, with digital infrastructure increasingly viewed as a foundation for economic diversification, technology investment and the development of new industries.
The scale of the opportunity is underscored by the current concentration of global data centre capacity. The United States remains the world’s largest market, with around 50GW of live IT power, followed by China. Saudi Arabia is still operating from a considerably smaller base, despite its rapid recent growth.
Harry Goodson Wickes, Head of KSA & Northern Gulf Offices, Savills, said, “What we’re seeing in Saudi Arabia goes beyond a single project or announcement, it’s a structural shift in how the Kingdom is planning its digital economy. Investors are taking note, and we expect this momentum to continue as sovereign investment and hyperscaler capacity both scale over the next few years.”
The growth of Saudi Arabia’s data centre market is also creating opportunities across the wider digital infrastructure ecosystem, including power, connectivity, land development and facilities required to support large-scale computing.
Savills’ data centre advisory team continues to monitor capacity, power and land availability across Saudi Arabia and the wider Gulf, supporting investors, operators and developers as the region enters its next phase of digital infrastructure development.
