OCR Studio has secured UAE trademark protection for One-shot KYC, its single-capture identity verification technology designed to simplify remote customer onboarding across banking, fintech, telecom, marketplaces and other digital services.
The technology combines identity document data extraction with selfie-to-ID face matching in a single capture. By registering One-shot KYC as a separate trademark, OCR Studio is positioning the technology as a potential new approach to faster, more streamlined digital identity verification.
Unlike conventional KYC processes that require users to separately photograph their identity document and take a selfie, One-shot KYC requires just one image of the user holding an ID document, regardless of its type or format. From that single capture, the system extracts relevant document information, identifies the portrait on the document and compares it with the user’s face.
Rather than producing only a binary “match” or “no match” outcome, the technology generates a face similarity score, giving businesses greater flexibility to apply their own risk thresholds and verification policies. One-shot KYC is designed to process verification locally on smartphones, tablets and desktop computers. It can be integrated into mobile applications as well as browser-based services using WebAssembly technology.
According to OCR Studio, document images, selfies and extracted personal information do not need to be transmitted to external systems for processing. The technology does not rely on cloud computing or centralised biometric databases and can operate without an internet connection.
This approach enables organisations to retain greater control over sensitive identity information while supporting onboarding in environments with limited connectivity and helping businesses address data protection requirements.
OCR Studio says One-shot KYC is designed to maintain performance under common challenges encountered during remote identity verification, including handheld or angled documents, poor lighting, glare and reflections, motion blur, camera movement and low-resolution images.
The technology is also designed to provide consistent performance across different genders, skin tones, ethnic backgrounds, age groups and nationalities, allowing organisations to use a common verification workflow across multiple markets.
The One-shot KYC trademark has been registered by the UAE Ministry of Economy & Tourism in Classes 9 and 42, covering software, technological and authentication services. OCR Studio says its technology supports more than 4,000 document templates across 250+ jurisdictions and over 100 languages.
Companies can evaluate One-shot KYC through OCR Studio’s online demo before purchasing the technology.
