Toshiba Electronics Europe has introduced a refreshed Canvio Ready 2.5-inch portable external hard drive, combining a redesigned enclosure with up to 4TB of storage and a top cover manufactured using 65% recycled material.
The update is aimed at maintaining the straightforward portable storage experience associated with the Canvio Ready range while improving the physical design. Ribbed detailing has been added to the enclosure to provide a more secure grip when the drive is being carried or connected.
With capacities of up to 4TB, the Canvio Ready can support data backup, file transfers and portable storage for large media libraries. The drive uses a USB Type-A to Micro-B connection and supports USB 3.2 Gen 1 transfer speeds of up to 5Gbit/s, while remaining compatible with USB 2.0 systems.
The USB-powered design eliminates the need for a separate power supply, making the drive suitable for mobile and flexible working environments. It comes pre-formatted for Microsoft Windows, while Mac systems are supported following reformatting.
Toshiba has also retained protection features intended to improve durability during transportation. Its ramp load design helps protect the drive mechanism when the HDD is being moved, while integrated shock sensors provide additional protection against excessive shock events.

The new Canvio Ready will be available in 1TB, 2TB and 4TB capacities from Q4 2026.
