Riverbed Launches New AI-Driven Network Observability Solutions

Riverbed has launched new AI-powered intelligent network observability solutions to help enterprise IT teams identify and resolve problems in real-time. This launch, which took place on August 6, 2025, in Dubai, follows a 92% year-over-year growth in Riverbed’s observability bookings during the first half of 2025.

Dave Donatelli, the CEO of Riverbed, said, “Our relentless pace of innovation continues to set the standard in our industry—and it’s only accelerating”. He added, “With today’s launch, we’re unveiling our next-generation Riverbed xx90 systems, offering dramatically higher performance and efficiency, alongside significant software advancements in network performance monitoring and enterprise-wide observability—now packaged and integrated with Riverbed IQ for AI-driven insights.”

The new solutions are designed to provide greater value for the Riverbed Platform and address the increasing complexity of enterprise environments. The launch includes the new Riverbed xx90 appliance series for AppResponse, NetProfiler, and Flow Gateway, which offers up to three times the performance of previous systems at the same price.

Customers can access these solutions through the Riverbed Flex Subscription offering, which allows IT teams to deploy Riverbed licenses across various environments (hardware, virtual, or cloud) without extra software costs. Donatelli stated that the new solutions “respond directly to our customers’ priorities: streamlining tool sets, unifying and simplifying network management, and automating for efficiency”. He also noted that “with the Riverbed Flex offer, customers gain even greater software licensing flexibility, investment protection and cost savings”.

The new Riverbed Intelligent Network Observability Essentials bundle is available with the purchase of AppResponse or NetProfiler. This bundle includes:

  • Riverbed IQ: A SaaS-based AI that identifies issues and accelerates resolution without the need for additional infrastructure.
  • Workspaces: Role-based dashboards that combine packet, flow, and endpoint insights to provide contextual visibility for different teams.
  • Grafana Plug-In: An integration that allows organizations to visualize Riverbed observability data in their existing Grafana dashboards.
  • Topology Viewer: A map-based visualization tool that links network topology with application and user performance to speed up the triage process.

The xx90 appliance family is built to support the scale, speed, and precision required by today’s distributed enterprise networks. The AppResponse 11.21 software, running on xx90 systems, can sustain packet capture over 50 Gbps and includes features for real-time triage of encrypted IPSec ESP tunnel traffic. For flow-based monitoring, the xx90 system powers the new 10.29 version of NetProfiler and Flow Gateway, providing “unmatched flow visibility and analysis at scale”. This new software is two times faster in throughput and three times faster in reporting and analysis, said the company.
