The Central Bank of Uzbekistan and the Global Finance & Technology Network (GFTN) are preparing to host the first Silk Road Finance & Technology Forum in Tashkent from August 24 to 26, 2026. The three-day event will bring together representatives from central banks, government agencies, international financial institutions, investors and technology companies from Central Asia, the Gulf and other regions.
The forum will focus on the development of financial technology and the role of digital finance in strengthening regional economic connectivity. Its agenda will cover open banking, digital assets and stablecoins, cross-border payments, Islamic finance, and innovation and investment.
Organisers say the event is intended to provide a platform for policymakers and industry leaders to examine emerging financial technologies, regulatory developments and opportunities for greater cross-border integration.
The forum is being organised by the Central Bank of Uzbekistan and GFTN, with Ant International as a partner and support from Uzbekistan’s Ministry of Digital Technologies and National Agency of Prospective Projects. It will form part of GFTN’s wider international network of financial technology events.
The event comes as Uzbekistan seeks to strengthen its position as a regional financial technology hub. The forum’s official programme describes its broader objective as “Unlocking Central Asia’s Fintech Value”, with discussions focused on building the regional fintech ecosystem, improving connections between Central Asia and global markets, and expanding digital financial infrastructure.
The Silk Road Finance & Technology Forum will be held at venues in Tashkent, including the Central Asian Expo Uzbekistan and the Islamic Civilization Centre.
The inaugural event is expected to provide a platform for discussions around how financial technology, regulatory cooperation and cross-border connectivity can support the development of Central Asia’s digital economy.
