Huawei Launches 11th ICT Competition 2026–2027 Across the Middle East and Central Asia

Huawei has launched the 11th edition of its Huawei ICT Competition 2026–2027 across the Middle East and Central Asia (ME&CA), continuing its efforts to equip young people with practical technology skills, foster innovation and strengthen ties between academia and the technology industry.
The competition is open to university students and teachers, providing an international platform to enhance ICT knowledge, develop practical expertise and exchange ideas. Through a series of progressive competition stages, participants can advance from national and regional rounds to the Global Final, connecting emerging technology talent from across the world.
The 2026–2027 edition features three competitions covering five technology tracks. The Practice Competition comprises Network, Cloud and Computing tracks, with topics including datacom, security, WLAN, data centre networks, cloud, artificial intelligence, openEuler, openGauss and Kunpeng.
The Innovation Competition introduces an AI Innovation Track covering areas such as general-purpose AI, agents, computing, storage, ModelEngine and Nexent. Meanwhile, the Teaching Competition features an Industry-Education Collaboration Track.
Cong Liang, Chief Strategy Officer of Huawei Middle East and Central Asia Region, said: “The Middle East and Central Asia is building an intelligent and digital future, and developing a strong pipeline of skilled young talent is critical to sustaining that progress. The Huawei ICT Competition brings universities, students, and the technology ecosystem closer and gives participants an opportunity to build practical capabilities in areas that are shaping the next phase of digital development, from cloud and computing to artificial intelligence. We aim to help build the skills that will support the region’s digital ambitions for the coming years.”
Since its first regional edition in 2016–2017, the Huawei ICT Competition has expanded considerably across the ME&CA region. Over the past decade, more than 180,000 teachers and students from over 800 universities across 19 countries in the region have participated in the initiative.
Huawei has also collaborated with international and educational organisations to expand access to digital skills development and learning opportunities. The competition is associated with the UNESCO Global Skills Academy partnership project and has been included on the China Association of Higher Education’s list of national university and college student competitions.
