Linksys and Trend Micro Join Forces

Linksys, the connected home division within the newly merged Belkin International and Foxconn Interconnect Technology (FIT) entity, today announced new software updates for Linksys Shield in the Middle East. Powered by Trend Micro, a global leader in cybersecurity solutions, Linksys Shield is the aptly named premium subscription software service for Velop Tri-Band users, enabling them to block unwanted content and provide an additional layer of digital protection for their connected devices and families.

Features include:

  • Content filtering flags websites that contain adult, violent or unwanted material and enables users to choose which types of sites their children can visit
  • Advanced browsing protection checks sites browsed against a database of millions of known threats, helping to prevent users and their families from unknowingly visiting malicious sites
  • Age-based content filtering is included, as is the ability to schedule screen time and pause the internet on specific devices

“Providing a premium Wi-Fi experience through higher speeds, coverage, reliability, and software enhancements is the ethos of Linksys’ business,” said Amanullah Khan, Managing Director, Belkin, Middle East, Turkey and Africa. “In a digital world, we want to maximize the internet’s benefits while mitigating harm for adults and children alike. Our partnership with Trend Micro allows us to put the control back into the hands of the user while protecting themselves from any potential digital dangers.”

“Having Linksys continue to select us as its security partner of choice makes us very proud,” said Hideyuki Tsugane, director of IoT business development at Trend Micro. “Together we are helping protect the homes and minds of Linksys users by securing their digital information in our exceedingly connected world.”

The Parental Control Subscription is AED 18.99 per month or one year for AED 192.99 and is available immediately via firmware and app update. Network Security Subscription will be available later this year.
