Lenovo Unveils First Laptop Manufactured in Saudi Arabia

Lenovo has unveiled its first laptop manufactured in Saudi Arabia, marking a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to establish a world-class manufacturing and innovation ecosystem in the Kingdom. Unveiled at LEAP 2026, the laptop was produced at Lenovo’s manufacturing facility in Riyadh and represents one of the first products to emerge from the facility. Mass production of select products is expected to begin in late 2026, further strengthening Saudi Arabia’s local manufacturing capabilities while supporting Lenovo’s regional and global operations.
The milestone follows the strategic collaboration between Lenovo and ALAT, announced at LEAP last year, to develop advanced manufacturing and technology capabilities in Saudi Arabia. “Last year at LEAP, Lenovo and ALAT announced an ambition to help establish Saudi Arabia as a global technology and manufacturing hub. Today, we are proud to unveil the first Lenovo laptop manufactured in the Kingdom,” said Tareq Alangari, Senior Vice President and President, Lenovo Middle East, Türkiye and Africa.
“This announcement is proof of what can be achieved when long-term investment, local talent, and ambitious national goals come together. With this in mind, Saudi Arabia will play an increasingly important role in Lenovo’s global manufacturing, innovation, and supply chain network.”
Dr. Muhammad Aldawood, Acting CEO, ALAT, said the milestone demonstrates what long-term partnerships can deliver in building advanced manufacturing capabilities in the Kingdom. “Alongside Lenovo, ALAT is helping build advanced manufacturing capability in Saudi Arabia. This creates skilled jobs, develops Saudi talent, and strengthens the industrial foundation for Vision 2030. What matters most for us is that the capability we build together stays in the Kingdom for the years ahead,” he said.
Over the past year, Lenovo has expanded its footprint in Saudi Arabia, including the establishment of its META regional headquarters in Riyadh and plans to develop research and development capabilities in the Kingdom. The company recently appointed Dr Rabeah Alzaidy to lead its R&D initiatives in Saudi Arabia.
Lenovo is also investing in local talent development through a strategic partnership with ALAT, the Human Resources Development Fund (HRDF), and the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources. As part of the initiative, the first cohort of Saudi engineers has completed specialised training at Lenovo’s global manufacturing facilities. The programme is designed to support knowledge transfer and develop local expertise in engineering, advanced manufacturing and emerging technologies.
These initiatives form part of Lenovo’s broader efforts to build long-term capabilities within Saudi Arabia rather than simply establish a manufacturing presence. Saudi Arabia is becoming an increasingly important part of Lenovo’s global manufacturing and supply chain network. The Riyadh facility is Lenovo’s first manufacturing site globally capable of producing its full portfolio of products, including PCs, desktops, Motorola smartphones and servers.
The facility also expands Lenovo’s diversified global production footprint, which spans more than 30 manufacturing sites across 11 countries. For Saudi Arabia, the investment supports the Kingdom’s ambition to establish itself as a regional hub for advanced industry and technology manufacturing under Vision 2030.
Alongside its manufacturing investments, Lenovo is expanding its industry-focused AI solutions and services in Saudi Arabia, with applications across sectors including sports, manufacturing, and retail. At LEAP 2026, the company is showcasing Physical AI: Robotic Inspection, a solution designed to help organisations in oil and gas, power and utilities improve inspection efficiency, reduce manual effort and enhance workplace safety.
Lenovo is also demonstrating technologies designed to support global sporting organisations, highlighting its focus on applying AI to specific industry challenges rather than treating it solely as a general-purpose technology. The combination of local manufacturing, talent development, R&D and industry-focused AI solutions reflects Lenovo’s broader strategy to establish Saudi Arabia as an important part of its global technology ecosystem.
