Mambu Launches Intelligent Core, Bringing AI Directly into Core Banking

Mambu, the composable banking platform, has announced the launch of Intelligent Core, a technology architecture designed to bring core banking, payments and agentic AI together through a single open and composable platform.
The company says the new architecture is designed to address the growing need for financial institutions to deploy AI in environments capable of supporting real-time intelligence and autonomous action. While AI adoption is accelerating across financial services, many banks continue to build AI capabilities on top of legacy core systems that were not designed for these requirements.
Mambu has spent the past 15 years helping financial institutions build and modernise deposits, lending and Islamic banking services. With Intelligent Core, the company is adding an intelligence layer to this foundation through Mambu Agentic, which combines AI connectivity, specialised agents and autonomous workflows directly with the core banking environment.
Mambu Agentic works alongside Mambu Core and Mambu Payments, bringing the three components together into an architecture intended to help financial institutions accelerate product development, reduce operational workloads and deliver more personalised services.
As part of Intelligent Core, Mambu is introducing three new capability layers within its agentic offering:
- Model Context Protocol (MCP): Connects enterprise AI agents directly to core banking and payments systems, providing access to real-time data and context without requiring complex integrations.
- AI Insights: Provides a curated data layer designed to ensure the information used by AI agents for reasoning is reliable. It can also surface AI-generated insights around growth opportunities, risks and anomalies across portfolios and operations.
- Agents: Pre-built agents can gather data, reason within configurable guardrails, take authorised actions and explain their decisions. The agents can be configured around an institution’s policies, approval thresholds and business logic.
Mambu says Intelligent Core brings the banking ledger and AI intelligence together within an open architecture, allowing financial institutions to launch products more quickly, automate high-volume operational processes and deliver personalised services at scale.
The company also says the architecture is designed so that intelligence can build across the banking stack, potentially increasing its value as financial institutions expand their operations and accumulate more data.
“For 15 years, Mambu has freed hundreds of global financial institutions from the constraints of monolithic legacy cores through composable banking,” said Fernando Zandona, Chief Executive Officer at Mambu. “That composable foundation now evolves to become intelligent. Intelligent Core is our vision for the future of financial services: core, payments, and agentic AI working as one. Mambu Agentic brings this to life with AI agents that connect directly into the ledger, reason against strict guardrails, act where authorised, and explain every decision. Fully configurable, auditable, and scalable.”
The company positions the launch as a move towards embedding AI more deeply into banking infrastructure, rather than treating it as an additional layer sitting on top of existing systems. “Every financial institution we talk to is not asking if they should adopt AI, but whether it can run safely, reliably, and deliver on its promise at scale. Today with Mambu, it can,” concluded Zandona.
