Dubai Future Week Unveils ‘The Challenge’ Competitions with AED 1M AI Grandmaster Prize

The Dubai Future Foundation (DFF) has announced details for “The Challenge,” a central pillar of Dubai Future Week taking place from November 18 to 21, 2026, across Emirates Towers and the Museum of the Future.

Held under the theme ‘For the Human of the Future,’ Dubai Future Week is expected to draw over 10,000 attendees to examine emerging technological shifts across daily life, business, and governance. Moving away from standard panel discussions, The Challenge serves as an interactive testing ground where international developers, engineers, and researchers will showcase live problem-solving, product design, and deployment under real-world conditions.

AI Grandmaster: Evolving Past Prompting
Building on the Global Prompt Engineering Championship held in 2025—which drew over 3,800 submissions from 125 countries—the 2026 competition expands its scope into end-to-end engineering under the banner of AI Grandmaster.

The contest will convene 20 shortlisted AI specialists in live, timed elimination rounds. Participants will be evaluated on multi-model AI orchestration, system integration, product architecture, and measurable delivery metrics. The final round will award the title of Dubai AI Grandmaster alongside a top cash prize of AED 1 million.

Autonomous Systems at the 4th Emirates Robotics Competition
The Challenge will also host the concluding rounds of the fourth Emirates Robotics Competition, directed by Dubai Future Labs in collaboration with:

  • Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) Dubai
  • Khalifa University of Science and Technology
  • Mohammed bin Rashid Library
  • American University of Sharjah (AUS)

In this year’s challenge, collegiate engineering teams from across the UAE are tasked with creating an autonomous library assistant capable of cataloging, navigating aisles, grasping, and delivering books. Because each university operates on identical standardized hardware platforms, performance hinges strictly on algorithmic capability—including computer vision, edge navigation, grasp planning, and spatial autonomy.

Program Structure: ‘How We’ll Innovate’
The Challenge forms a core component of How We’ll Innovate, one of five central thematic tracks framing Dubai Future Week alongside How We’ll Live, How We’ll Think, How We’ll Feel, and How We’ll Do Business.

The broader program moves beyond siloed vertical sectors to cover quantum computing, biotechnology, advanced materials, and automation across eight structured venues:

  1. The Big Stage (Flagship keynotes and debates)
  2. The Prototype Floor (Featuring more than 100 working technical prototypes)
  3. The Pitch (Startup and venture capital presentations)
  4. The Policy Room (Regulatory frameworks and governance dialogues)
  5. The Challenge (Live developer and robotics showdowns)
  6. Offstage (Informal roundtable discussions)
  7. 500 Future Minds (Youth and researcher forums)
  8. The District (Interactive urban installations across the Dubai Future District)

The four-day event is designed to bridge the gap between theoretical R&D and operational application, offering attendees tangible demonstrations of emerging technologies before they reach mass-market adoption.
