Quartermaster and Presight Partner to Explore AI-Powered Maritime Intelligence Solutions

Quartermaster and Presight have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to explore the development of AI-powered solutions for maritime domain awareness, security and operational intelligence.

Signed during ADIPEC 2026, the agreement provides a framework for the companies to investigate how Quartermaster’s distributed maritime sensing technology can be integrated with Presight’s artificial intelligence, advanced analytics and mission-critical intelligence platforms to improve visibility and intelligence across complex maritime environments.

Quartermaster’s SmartMast technology is designed to convert existing commercial vessels into nodes within a distributed maritime sensing network. The system uses optical, infrared and radio-frequency sensors, supported by edge AI, to capture and analyse maritime activity.

By combining this technology with Presight’s analytics and intelligence platforms, the companies aim to explore applications including maritime domain awareness, vessel tracking, anomaly detection and the protection of critical maritime infrastructure.

The collaboration will also examine potential solutions for maritime security authorities, port operators and other stakeholders, focusing on improving situational awareness, identifying potential threats earlier and supporting more informed operational decisions.

Neil Sobin, CEO of Quartermaster, said, “The ocean remains one of the world’s most challenging environments in which to achieve continuous, real-time visibility. Quartermaster is giving mariners a truer picture of what’s happening at sea by turning working vessels into a distributed sensing network that provides an objective view of activity across some of the world’s most active trade routes and offshore energy projects. By combining that sensing layer with Presight’s advanced AI and analytics capabilities, we can turn maritime data into actionable intelligence at scale, helping operators see more, understand situations faster and make better-informed decisions when it matters most.”

Dr Adel Alsharji, Chief Operating Officer at Presight, said, “Maritime security is increasingly dependent on the ability to understand and respond to activity across vast, complex environments. Our collaboration with Quartermaster brings together an innovative approach to maritime sensing with Presight’s expertise in applying AI and advanced analytics to mission-critical operations. Together, we see an opportunity to transform maritime data into actionable intelligence, strengthening situational awareness, supporting better decisions and contributing to the security and resilience of critical maritime infrastructure.”

The MOU reflects the companies’ shared interest in applying emerging sensing technologies and advanced AI to maritime security challenges. By connecting distributed maritime data with intelligence-led decision-making, the proposed collaboration will explore scalable solutions to improve operational readiness, safeguard critical assets and support national resilience.

The initial focus will be on the United Arab Emirates, with both companies intending to explore opportunities in other international markets as the partnership develops.
