KIOXIA Unveils GP1 PCIe 6.0 SSDs for AI Workloads

KIOXIA Europe GmbH has introduced the KIOXIA GP1 Series PCIe 6.0 NVMe SSDs, a new line of high-performance solid-state drives designed to meet the growing storage and memory demands of AI infrastructure. Built for GPU-direct access, the GP1 Series delivers up to 10 million random read IOPS, making it the first product in KIOXIA’s Super High IOPS GP Series.
Powered by KIOXIA XL-FLASH™ Generation 2 low-latency flash memory, the GP1 Series is designed to serve as a flash-based memory extension tier, enabling AI systems to process larger datasets more efficiently while reducing the need for costly High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). According to KIOXIA, this approach improves GPU utilisation and accelerates AI, high-performance computing (HPC) and data analytics workloads.
The SSDs leverage a PCIe 6.0 and NVMe 2.2 architecture to provide low-latency performance and fine-grained 512-byte data access. KIOXIA said the platform has been designed to scale beyond today’s 10 million random read IOPS, with future generations targeting up to 100 million IOPS.

The GP1 Series will be available in E3.S and E1.S form factors, with support for both traditional air cooling and cold-plate liquid cooling configurations. The drives also offer endurance of up to 50 drive writes per day (DWPD), making them suitable for write-intensive enterprise and AI deployments.
KIOXIA expects evaluation samples of the GP1 Series to be available to selected customers by the end of 2026. The new SSDs are being showcased at FMS: The Future of Memory and Storage, taking place in Santa Clara, California, from 4–6 August.
