Amadeus to Bring AI-Powered Travel Servicing Capability to Gulf Agencies

Amadeus is preparing to introduce Amadeus Max for Travel Sellers across the Gulf, bringing an AI-powered capability directly into its Amadeus Selling Platform Connect as travel agencies look to simplify increasingly complex booking and servicing processes.
Rather than operating as a separate application, Amadeus Max is integrated into the existing Selling Platform Connect workflow. The company says the capability is designed to provide travel consultants with real-time assistance when working with airline fare rules, Passenger Name Record (PNR) histories and Smart Flow creation.
The move comes as travel agencies across the GCC seek ways to improve operational efficiency while allowing agents to spend more time on customer-facing activities. By bringing AI assistance into the systems agents already use, Amadeus aims to reduce the amount of time spent searching for information and handling repetitive processes.
AI within the travel agent workflow
Amadeus Max for Travel Sellers is designed to assist agents with some of the more time-consuming aspects of travel servicing. This includes interpreting complex fare rules, retrieving information from PNR histories and simplifying the creation of Smart Flows.
According to Amadeus, providing these capabilities within the existing workflow can help reduce manual intervention and make it easier for agents to handle complex booking requirements. The company also expects the approach to support more consistent servicing and potentially reduce the training required for new agents to become familiar with complex processes.
The technology is part of Amadeus’ wider investment in artificial intelligence across its travel technology portfolio. The company has already introduced AI-enabled capabilities across areas including corporate travel booking, hotel business intelligence and operational management, using technologies including Microsoft Azure OpenAI.
For travel agencies, the broader objective is to use AI to handle information-intensive tasks while retaining agents at the centre of customer interactions.
“Travel agents today are operating in an increasingly dynamic and information-intensive environment where speed, precision, and customer experience are more important than ever,” said Ernesto Sánchez Beaumont, Managing Director, Amadeus Gulf. “The introduction of Amadeus Max for Travel Sellers reflects our commitment to equipping the travel trade with intelligent tools that simplify complexity, improve productivity, and allow agents to focus on delivering more meaningful traveller experiences.”
Moving AI closer to travel distribution
Amadeus sees its position within the travel distribution ecosystem as an important part of its AI strategy. Rather than developing AI capabilities in isolation, the company is seeking to connect suppliers, travel sellers and AI-enabled applications with travel data and existing distribution infrastructure.
Amadeus has operated as a technology provider to the travel industry since 1987 and its platforms connect airlines, travel agencies and other participants across the travel ecosystem. The company says its systems process millions of travel searches and bookings each day, with peak processing capacity of up to 150,000 transactions per second.
As AI adoption increases across the industry, Amadeus expects its existing infrastructure and data connections to provide a foundation for integrating AI into travel distribution and servicing.
The company is also placing emphasis on governance and responsible AI deployment through its AI Office and technology partnerships, as travel businesses increasingly evaluate how AI can be incorporated into operational systems.
Preparing for a more AI-driven travel market
The planned Gulf rollout forms part of Amadeus’ wider strategy to integrate AI into the platforms used by travel businesses. For agencies, the potential benefit lies less in adding another standalone AI application and more in bringing intelligent assistance into the tools already used by agents.
With travel demand continuing to expand across the GCC, agencies are under pressure to manage higher volumes and increasingly complex traveller requirements while maintaining service levels. Amadeus believes embedded AI capabilities can help address some of that operational pressure by accelerating routine tasks and giving agents faster access to relevant information.
The introduction of Amadeus Max for Travel Sellers therefore reflects a broader shift in travel technology: AI is moving from a separate productivity tool towards becoming part of the underlying systems used to search, book and service travel.
