ENOC Opens First AI-Powered ZOOM Store with Amazon’s Just Walk Out Technology

ENOC Group has opened its first ZOOM convenience store powered by Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology, introducing checkout-free shopping to its retail network and marking the first deployment of the technology in the Middle East.
Located at ENOC service station Site 1019, opposite City Walk in Dubai, the store uses artificial intelligence (AI) and computer vision to simplify the shopping process. Customers can select the products they need, tap their payment card or mobile wallet when leaving and complete their purchase without waiting at a conventional checkout counter.
Amazon’s Just Walk Out technology tracks the products customers pick up or return to shelves, maintaining a virtual record of their selections. Once they leave the store, the system processes the payment, eliminating the need for traditional checkout facilities and queues.
The launch represents part of ENOC’s wider efforts to modernise its retail operations through technology and international partnerships, with a focus on making convenience stores more responsive to changing customer expectations.
Ali Khalid Bin Zayed Alfalasi, Deputy Chief Commercial & Retail Officer at ENOC Group, said, “The future of retail will be defined by how seamlessly technology can integrate into people’s everyday lives. As customer expectations evolve, our responsibility extends beyond providing essential mobility services to reimagining the experiences that surround them. At ENOC, we see strategic partnerships with global technology leaders as a powerful catalyst for this transformation, allowing us to bring world-class innovation closer to the communities we serve. Our collaboration with Amazon reflects this ambition, translating advanced technology into a tangible improvement in how customers shop, while demonstrating the UAE’s position as a market where pioneering solutions can be brought to life. This launch is an important milestone in our journey to create smarter, more connected and customer-centric retail experiences across our network.”
Rajiv Chopra, Vice President of Just Walk Out at Amazon, said, “Convenience stores have operated the same way for decades: customers select their items, join a queue, and wait to pay. Just Walk Out technology by Amazon removes that final step. ENOC is exactly the kind of forward-looking partner to bring this experience to the region, and we’re proud that its ZOOM stores are the first in the Middle East to introduce it, giving customers a faster, more seamless way to shop and continue their journey.”
The introduction of checkout-free shopping forms part of ENOC’s broader strategy to develop its service stations into integrated retail destinations. The group is looking to combine traditional mobility services with technology-enabled retail offerings to improve convenience and streamline everyday customer interactions.
The launch also builds on a strategic collaboration between ENOC Group and Amazon UAE announced in October 2025. The partnership aims to combine ENOC’s retail network with Amazon’s technology and digital commerce capabilities to develop new retail experiences across physical and online channels.
Other initiatives under the collaboration include exploring the use of ENOC’s existing infrastructure as quick-fulfilment hubs for everyday essentials and making ENOC’s product portfolio available through Amazon.ae.
