ViewSonic’s new XG270QG is a 27-inch monitor that offers a WQHD resolution of 2560-by-1440 pixels and an overclocked refresh rate of 165Hz, which many gamers are after. The ViewSonic XG270QG hits this sweet spot, sweetening the deal with a generous colour gamut, Nano IPS panel and support for Nvidia G-SYNC, through its integrated G-SYNC module.
The monitor uses a 1440p Nano IPS (In-Plane Switching) panel to offer 10-bit colour. The monitor’s 1ms grey-to-grey response time means that it can deliver esports-level performance with seamless pixel transitions and reduced ghosting. And since the monitor supports Nvidia G-Sync, you won’t experience any artifacts, in-game screen tearing or input lag.
In terms of appearance, ViewSonic has chosen a high-end design – similar to those you might have seen on flagship models from other monitor brands. It offers a very good aesthetic design. The stand base combines black powder coated metal for most of the upper surface with a brushed black metal front section.
The stand itself offers a wide range of adjustability such as height, pivot, swivel and tilt. The monitor offers dual-stage bezels, including a reasonably slender panel border that’s flush with the rest of the screen and a slim hard plastic outer component. The bezels seem a bit thicker on the monitor, but the construction of the overall monitor is solid.
ViewSonic has also integrated RGB lighting around the area where the stand connects to the display. You also get two RGB light strips along the bottom edge of the display. At the back on the left edge, you also get a headphone stand, and two mouse bungees on either sides of the stand.
In terms of connectivity, you get ports such as DisplayPort, HDMI, Audio Out, USB Type B, and USB Type A. In order to change the settings of the monitor, you can use the directional toggle to do that. You also get two 2W integrated speakers with backwards-facing speaker grilles. These offer basic sound output and were actually better than quite a few integrated speakers.
In terms of pure performance, the monitor offered a consistent overall performance. The monitor aces in colour reproduction and the colour consistency was excellent, too. The monitor also offers a solid experience when it comes to responsiveness. The ViewSonic XG270QG combines an attractive feature-set with a competitive price point. If you are on the market for an able gaming monitor, the XG270QG comes across as highly recommended.
