Epson Expands Investment in Gosan Tech

Seiko Epson Corporation has expanded its investment in South Korean industrial inkjet specialist Gosan Tech, strengthening a strategic partnership aimed at advancing next-generation manufacturing technologies, including perovskite solar cells (PSCs), OLED displays and biomedical applications.

The additional investment, made jointly by Seiko Epson Corporation and Epson X Investment Corporation through the EP-GB L.P. fund, builds on Epson’s initial investment in Gosan Tech in 2025 and reflects the company’s continued focus on expanding industrial applications for its precision inkjet technology.

Founded in 2015, Gosan Tech develops industrial inkjet systems used in OLED display manufacturing, direct parts marking, perovskite solar cells and biomedical technologies. The company has developed proprietary ink supply, pressure control and simulation technologies that enable highly precise and uniform ink droplet deposition for advanced manufacturing processes.

The move comes as the UAE continues to prioritise advanced manufacturing, clean energy and life sciences under its industrial development agenda. Through the Ministry of Industry and Advanced Technology’s Operation 300bn strategy, the country is encouraging investment in high-value manufacturing sectors, including renewable energy technologies, medical devices and advanced industrial production.

Perovskite solar cells are emerging as one of the most promising next-generation renewable energy technologies due to their lightweight, flexible design and the potential for lower production costs. Gosan Tech’s inkjet-based manufacturing systems enable precise control over material deposition and film thickness, helping improve power conversion efficiency while reducing material waste and manufacturing costs.

Since Epson’s initial investment in April 2025, the two companies have collaborated closely, with Epson supplying industrial printheads through its South Korean subsidiary, Epson Korea. During this period, Gosan Tech has enhanced the performance of its PSC modules, expanded production capacity for its manufacturing systems and secured additional commercial orders from customers.

With the new investment, Epson aims to accelerate the commercialisation of inkjet-based manufacturing systems for perovskite solar cells while expanding the use of its inkjet technology across emerging industries.

The initiative also aligns with Epson’s long-term ENGINEERED FUTURE 2035 strategy, which focuses on advancing sustainable industrial innovation through precision inkjet technologies. By combining Epson’s expertise in industrial printheads with Gosan Tech’s manufacturing capabilities, the companies aim to accelerate the adoption of next-generation production technologies across electronics, renewable energy and biotechnology.
