Zain Jordan has selected Ericsson to advance the next phase of its Business Support Systems (BSS) transformation, expanding an existing partnership aimed at modernising the operator’s digital services infrastructure for the 5G era.
The latest phase extends the transformation to Zain Jordan’s postpaid business and introduces a cloud-native billing environment, real-time data capabilities and a catalogue-driven architecture for launching and managing new services.
Under the agreement, Ericsson will upgrade its Billing solution on Red Hat OpenShift within Zain Jordan’s private cloud. The deployment is designed to provide greater scalability and flexibility while supporting faster monetisation of 5G and other digital services.
The project will also introduce Ericsson’s Telco DataOps Platform to provide real-time data streaming and insights. The capabilities are intended to support proactive customer experience management, network optimisation and data-driven operational decisions, while creating a foundation for the future adoption of AI-driven autonomous network capabilities.
Another component of the transformation is the introduction of catalogue and order management for postpaid products. The catalogue-driven approach is intended to simplify the creation and rollout of new offers and allow Zain Jordan to respond more quickly to changing customer and market requirements.
Wessam Abu Hashhash, Chief Technology and Digital Innovation Officer at Zain Jordan, said the next phase represents a strategic step in the operator’s digital transformation, with the move towards a cloud-native and data-driven IT architecture expected to support more agile and personalised digital services.
Ahsan Quaderi, Country Manager and Head of Sales, Ericsson Jordan, said the expanded partnership will support Zain Jordan’s efforts to improve the agility, efficiency and scalability of its technology environment while developing new digital services.
The latest agreement builds on the companies’ existing work to modernise Zain Jordan’s IT infrastructure. By expanding the scope to include postpaid services and data-driven capabilities, the operator is positioning its BSS environment to support new 5G-based revenue opportunities and digital experiences as connectivity services evolve.
