Kyndryl has appointed Maged Wassim as Vice President and Managing Director for the Middle East and Africa (MEA), as organisations across the region accelerate efforts to integrate AI into their wider technology strategies. Wassim will lead Kyndryl’s business across MEA, with a focus on strengthening relationships with customers and partners and supporting organisations as they modernise mission-critical technology environments.
The appointment comes as businesses move beyond traditional digital transformation towards becoming AI-native enterprises, using cloud, data and agentic AI to improve competitiveness, resilience and business performance. In his new role, Wassim will work with Kyndryl’s regional teams to help customers develop the technology environments, skills, operating models and organisational readiness required to scale AI securely and responsibly.

Wassim joins Kyndryl from Cognizant, where he served as Vice President for the Middle East market. Before that, he was Vice President of Technology at a leading regional retailer, where he was responsible for technology strategy and large-scale transformation initiatives. His experience spans both technology operations and business outcomes, giving him direct insight into the challenges organisations face as they modernise their technology environments and adopt emerging technologies.
Wassim previously spent two decades at IBM, holding several leadership positions, including Vice President, IBM Cloud and Cognitive Software. During his time at IBM, he worked with organisations on cloud adoption, data and AI initiatives, and technology-led innovation. His appointment comes at a time when organisations across MEA are increasing investment in AI while also grappling with the challenge of modernising the underlying infrastructure, data environments and operating models required to support enterprise-scale adoption.
Wassim holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Capital University, formerly Helwan University, in Cairo, Egypt, and a Master of Science in Advanced Manufacturing Systems from Brunel University London in the UK.
