Cloudflare Launches Dashboard to Show Brands How AI Assistants Recommend Them
Cloudflare has launched the AEO Visibility Dashboard, a new tool designed to show brands how often AI assistants mention, cite and recommend their websites when users ask questions related to their products or services. The dashboard forms part of Cloudflare’s Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) Suite and is aimed at addressing a growing challenge for marketers: understanding how their brands appear in AI-generated answers as consumers increasingly use AI assistants for discovery and recommendations.
Unlike traditional search engines, AI assistants do not provide brands with a conventional ranking position that can be monitored. Cloudflare said this makes it difficult for marketers to determine whether their businesses are being recommended, simply mentioned or excluded from AI-generated responses. The company said its approach uses network-level signals rather than relying solely on test prompts sent to AI chatbots. Cloudflare operates infrastructure between AI platforms and websites and can observe crawl and referral activity across its network.
“Being discoverable used to mean ranking on a page. That’s not enough anymore. The agentic era is here, and the moments that matter, like when someone asks an AI for a recommendation and gets an answer back, are happening at scale, invisibly, without most brands knowing if they’re in the conversation at all,” said Stephanie Cohen, Chief Strategy Officer at Cloudflare. “Cloudflare sits at the network layer. We see actual signals: real crawl activity, real referrals, what AI systems are genuinely doing across millions of sites. That’s what powers these tools. Brands can finally get a real answer to the question they’ve been asking: how am I showing up, and where?”
The AEO Visibility Dashboard provides several metrics intended to help marketers understand how their content and brands are being surfaced by AI systems. Citation Rate shows which AI platforms are using a brand’s website as a cited source, providing an indication of whether its content is being referenced directly by AI systems.
Mention Rate measures whether AI assistants name a brand even when they do not cite its website. Cloudflare said this distinction can help marketers determine whether the challenge relates to brand authority rather than basic awareness. Prominence measures the extent to which a brand is represented within an AI-generated response and where it appears in the answer, distinguishing between a prominent recommendation and a brief mention.
Share of Voice allows brands to compare their visibility with competitors across questions relevant to their customers and monitor changes in their relative position over time. Cloudflare said the metrics are intended to help marketers identify where content investment may have the greatest impact, rather than relying exclusively on manually testing AI prompts.
The AEO Visibility Dashboard joins Cloudflare’s existing Agent Readiness tool, which assesses whether AI agents can discover and access a website. Agent Readiness evaluates factors including whether AI agents are permitted to crawl a site, whether a sitemap is available, whether content can be accessed in a structured format and, in more advanced scenarios, whether agents can interact with interfaces directly.
The new dashboard addresses the next stage of the process: whether AI systems are actually using the accessible content to mention or recommend a brand. Cloudflare said the AEO Suite is designed to give website owners greater visibility into how their content is accessed and used by AI systems, while allowing them to determine what content they make available. The AEO Visibility Dashboard is currently available through an early-access programme. Businesses can request access through the Overview tab in the Cloudflare dashboard, where Agent Readiness is also available.
