AI Saves UAE Workers Significant Time: Freshworks

A new study by Freshworks positions the UAE as a global leader in Artificial Intelligence (AI) knowledge and usage, placing it alongside India at the forefront of this technological revolution. The report surveyed 7,000 employees across 13 countries, revealing a remarkably high level of comfort and expertise among UAE workers when it comes to AI. A staggering 84% feel comfortable using AI-powered software, and a significant 70% consider themselves knowledgeable or even experts in the field.

This comfort with AI translates directly into widespread utilization within the UAE workforce. An impressive 80% of employees trust AI software to improve their work processes, leading to a significant adoption rate. Nearly a third (29%) use AI software daily, while a staggering 81% integrate it into their work routine at least once a week. The impact of AI is undeniable, with nearly half of workers reporting increased efficiency and a higher quality of work. Perhaps most impressive, the UAE workforce enjoys an average time-saving benefit of 4 hours and 32 minutes per week thanks to AI, surpassing the global average by nearly 20%.

The study delves deeper, revealing how UAE workers leverage AI tools. Data analysis takes the top spot, highlighting the advanced nature of AI usage within the country. Writing and content creation, along with text and audio analysis/translation, follow closely. Rounding out the top five are AI-powered coding tools and software designed to facilitate research and brainstorming sessions.

However, the report also raises a critical concern regarding data privacy. With over half (51%) of workers utilizing free online AI software, the potential for sensitive company information to be exposed to unauthorized third parties becomes a risk factor. This concern appears to be recognized by UAE organizations, with nearly half (47%) of respondents stating their employers invest in paid AI software solutions.

Overall, the Freshworks report paints a clear picture: the UAE stands as a global leader in AI adoption. Workers have embraced AI tools, leveraging their efficiency and expertise to transform the modern workplace. However, the importance of data privacy remains a critical consideration, emphasizing the need for continued focus on secure AI implementation.

“It is encouraging to see the UAE’s global leadership in AI maturity. It is a testament to the efforts of the government and the AI ministry’s push to embrace technology,” said Sandie Overtveld, Senior Vice President – APJ & MEA, Freshworks. “The nation’s workers are skilled in its use, and organisations must now ensure they invest in empowering them with AI-enabled tools. This will not only yield further productivity and quality gains but will no doubt be critical in attracting and retaining top talent. Ultimately, the ongoing enhancement of business with the aid of AI has the potential to deliver more fulfilling work, while also advancing the government’s strategy for building a knowledge-driven economy.”
