Acronis Introduces Archival Storage Service for Compliance-Focused Data Retention

Acronis has introduced Acronis Archival Storage, a long-term data retention service designed for managed service providers (MSPs) and small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) that need to store data for regulatory, legal, or operational purposes.

The service provides S3-compatible object storage and is integrated into the Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud platform. It is intended for data that is accessed infrequently but must remain available on demand. Acronis said the service supports encryption, immutability through write-once-read-many (WORM) functionality, and defined availability and durability standards.

“For many customers, regulations and industry best practices require data to be retained for years,” said Gaidar Magdanurov, President at Acronis. “With Acronis Archival Storage, MSPs can now provide their clients with long-term storage built for compliance readiness, cost predictability and ease of use. Native integration with Acronis Cyber Protect Cloud makes using archival storage effortless.”

According to Acronis, the archival service is designed to address limitations of traditional long-term storage approaches. Tape-based storage can create delays in data retrieval, while some public cloud storage models introduce variable costs through data access and API usage. The company said its approach avoids these issues by offering predictable pricing without data egress or API fees.

The service is delivered through seven Acronis data centers worldwide, enabling regional deployment and compliance alignment. It also leverages Seagate Lyve Cloud as its underlying storage infrastructure.

“Data’s true value is realized when organizations can securely preserve, access, and harness it for innovation and insight,” said Melyssa Banda, SVP, Edge Enterprise Storage and Services at Seagate. “Our partnership with Acronis ensures archival data is protected and accessible for compliance, AI and more, with economic predictability and peace of mind—secured by Seagate Lyve Cloud.”

Acronis said the new archival storage option can be offered by MSPs as part of their existing service portfolios, using the same management and billing systems already in place.
