How has the regional smart appliances evolved over the past few years and what sort of impact has it had in the market?
Over the past few years, we’ve witnessed a remarkable evolution in regional smart appliances. Customers are increasingly seeking appliances that offer convenience, efficiency, and connectivity. LG has been at the forefront of this evolution, continuously introducing cutting-edge smart appliances that cater to the evolving needs of consumers. LG refrigerators, for example, come with features that allow users to remotely monitor their fridge contents and receive expiry notifications, reducing food waste as well as intelligent air filters that can not only remove bacteria up to 99.999% but also minimise bad odour in the refrigerator.
What sort of innovations do you offer in the smart appliances area?
LG is dedicated to pioneering innovations in the smart appliances sector. We offer a wide range of products equipped with state-of-the-art features such as ThinQ AI Technology, Inverter technology, InstaView refrigerators and ovens, OLED displays, and steam cleaning. Our ThinQ technology platform serves as the backbone for many of these innovations, allowing users to monitor and control their appliances remotely, optimise energy usage, and even receive proactive maintenance alerts.
For instance, LG washing Machines utilise AI Direct Drive technology that can automatically detect fabric types and optimise washing cycles. The LG Smart Dehumidifier features a smart efficiency feature whereby, based on the humidity levels, the dehumidification intensity is automatically adjusted, ensuring the indoor environment remains dry and comfortable. From refrigerators to washing machines, LG’s smart appliances redefine convenience and efficiency in the modern home.

We closely monitor market trends to tailor our regional strategies and better serve our customers. One prominent trend we’ve observed is the increasing demand for personalised and connected experiences. In response, we’ve focused on enhancing connectivity and interoperability across our product lineup, ensuring that our smart appliances seamlessly integrate into various smart home ecosystems.
What role do sustainability and energy efficiency play today?
Sustainability and energy efficiency are the core of LG’s product development strategy. We recognise the importance of minimising environmental impact while maximising energy savings. Our smart appliances are designed with advanced technologies that prioritise sustainability, we aim to provide our customers with cost-effective and eco-friendly solutions for their homes. Our LG Dual Inverter air conditioners, for example, utilise dual rotary compressors and variable-speed motors to deliver energy savings of up to 70% compared to conventional models, reducing electricity consumption and lowering utility bills for consumers.
