Soundcore AeroFit 2 AI Assistant Review: Smart, Comfortable, and Truly Open-Ear

In an age where earbuds are expected to do more than just play music, Soundcore’s AeroFit 2 AI Assistant pushes the boundaries of what’s possible. Combining an innovative open-ear design with real-time AI translation, intuitive voice controls, and impressive battery endurance, these earbuds aim to be the ultimate companion for professionals, travellers, and fitness enthusiasts alike. Beyond smart features, they deliver a refined balance of comfort, awareness, and sound quality that redefines the everyday listening experience.

Design and Build Quality
From the moment you place the AeroFit 2 AI Assistant on your ears, they feel noticeably different from typical in-ear buds. The open-ear design means there are no silicone tips plunging into the ear canal; instead the earbuds rest just outside your ear, secured by a soft, adjustable ear hook.

The double-curved surface of the hooks and the four-level adjustment system allow the fit to be tailored across a wide variety of ear shapes, and in practice they stay in place during walks, light jogging, or standing up from your desk. The materials feel premium — a mix of matte plastic with subtle metallic touches around the logos — and the IP55 rating gives confidence that sweat or a light drizzle won’t immediately be a concern.

A slightly larger than average charging case is part of the package; it’s solid and well-built, but you’ll notice it doesn’t slip as unobtrusively into tight pockets as some earbuds cases. But given the featureset inside, that is a minor trade-off. Overall, the build gives a sense of reliability and durability, and the ergonomic hook-fit system means you can wear them comfortably for long sessions without the pressure or fatigue that some sealed in-ear models cause.

Open-Ear Design and Comfort
Putting the AeroFit 2 AI Assistant on for the first time was a revelation in terms of awareness. Because there’s no seal blocking out your surroundings, you can hear ambient sounds — traffic, someone speaking to you, footsteps — while still listening to your chosen content. On a morning commute, for example, I could listen to a podcast and still hear announcements on the train. For a jog in a park it meant you’re safer and more aware of vehicles or cyclists.

Comfort-wise, after an hour or two of wear, I didn’t feel ear-canal fatigue or pressure build-up. The hooks and light weight (~8-10 g per bud) made it possible to forget they were on until the battery warning popped up. The downside: because there’s no in-ear seal, in very noisy environments some of the music’s impact was reduced. On a crowded café patio or next to a busy street I did have to raise the volume a bit more than I would with fully sealed buds. But the trade-off of hearing the world while still enjoying sound is part of the design philosophy, and it works well.

AI Features: Translation and Assistant
Where the AeroFit 2 AI Assistant truly differentiates itself is in its built-in intelligence. Say “Hey Anka” and the earbuds activate the voice-assistant mode. You can ask for live information — weather, calendars, playback controls — without needing to pull out your phone. More uniquely, the translation feature supports real-time translation between 100 languages, across two modes: Face-to-Face Translation for direct conversation and Real-Time Translation for lectures or speeches.

The way it works: your voice is captured by the earbuds, the other person’s speech is captured by your phone, translated, then your headset plays the translated audio. The performance in testing was impressively quick and accurate across major languages, though very slangy or heavy dialects still caused a brief lag or mis-interpreted phrase.

In a mock meeting scenario I switched to Tamil input and asked English output. Within seconds the translation came through and the recipient heard a clear English version of what I had spoken. For a global business traveller or multilingual team meeting this could genuinely be a game-changer. One caveat: the translation function is smartphone-only (tablets/PCs are not supported) and it doesn’t work when the earbuds are on dual-device mode or during a call. But for everyday use, it adds an extra layer of utility beyond music and calls.

Audio Technology and Sound Quality
Technically the AeroFit 2 AI Assistant packs 20 × 11.5 mm “racetrack” drivers combined with Soundcore’s BassTurbo acoustic structure and supports the LDAC codec over Bluetooth 5.4. In real-world listening, the audio was rich and well-balanced. For podcasts and spoken-word content the clarity was excellent: voices were crisp, background ambience subdued but audible (thanks to the open design). For music the bass was surprisingly good for an open-ear design — while it doesn’t rumble like closed-seal buds, the low end was full enough to satisfy a casual listener. Mids and highs were handled cleanly, with good instrument separation and a bright enough treble.

Where the design limits show is in fully noisy spaces — with the open architecture, some ambient noise seeps in and the music feels less “immersive” compared with sealed ANC models. But that’s a trade-off in favour of awareness. The ability to use LDAC made a real difference when paired with a high-res source; the step up in fidelity was noticeable. If you’re in quieter surroundings, the sound really shines.

Battery Life and Charging
On a full charge the AeroFit 2 AI Assistant delivers up to 8.5 hours of continuous playback from the earbuds alone, and when including the charging case the total runtime can stretch to around 35 hours depending on volume and codec usage. In my day-to-day usage (mixed music, podcasts, commutes) I comfortably got a full workday plus commute out of the buds without needing to recharge.

A 10-minute quick charge provided about 3–4 hours of additional playback, which was extremely useful. The case also supports wireless Qi charging and USB-C, giving flexibility for travel or desk setups.

App Experience
The Soundcore companion app is intuitive and polished. It offers a full suite of customisation: you can select from multiple EQ presets, define your own EQ curve, toggle the AI Translation feature, configure the “Hey Anka” assistant, enable gaming mode (low latency), view battery levels of each earbud and the case, and perform firmware updates.

During setup the app detected the earbuds quickly and allowed immediate pairing. In practice the app’s translation module worked smoothly and the EQ adjustments helped fine-tune the sound to compensate for the open-ear nature.

Verdict
The Soundcore AeroFit 2 AI Assistant is a standout among open-ear wireless earbuds. It successfully blends utility, comfort, smart features, and respectable audio quality into a single package. While it does not isolate you from the world nor offers booming closed-can bass, its design is purpose-driven: to keep you connected to your environment while enjoying your audio and accessing AI-driven translation and assistant features.

For travellers interpreting foreign meetings, outdoor exercisers needing awareness, or anyone who dislikes the sense of isolation that in-ear sealed buds create — this model performs very well. If your priority is full passive isolation, studio-level bass, or maximum ANC, then alternatives will serve better; but if you value comfort, situational awareness, smart functionality, and long battery life, the AeroFit 2 AI Assistant is an excellent choice.
