RØDE Showcases Advanced Mic Tech and Next-Gen Audio Innovations

RØDE has introduced a major wave of innovations ahead of the NAB Show in Las Vegas, signalling a significant shift in professional audio and content creation workflows. The announcement includes new hardware, software and a breakthrough microphone technology designed to shape the future of audio production.

At the centre of the launch is Sonaura, a new studio-grade MEMS (Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems) microphone technology developed in collaboration with Infineon Technologies AG. The platform is set to power a new generation of RØDE and Freedman Group audio products, offering high-performance capture in an ultra-compact format.

“What we’ve achieved with Sonaura was once considered impossible” said Freedman Group Founder and Chairman Peter Freedman AM. “We have always been relentless in our pursuit of delivering the highest quality audio, and Sonaura is not only proof of that unwavering commitment, but a testament to RØDE and the wider Freedman Group’s ethos of shattering barriers and crushing conventions. In partnership with Infineon, we’ve created a foundational audio platform on which the future of sound will be built, wholly revolutionising recording technology as we know it.”

Built over five years of joint development, Sonaura combines semiconductor innovation with advanced audio engineering to deliver exceptional clarity, durability and performance. With an industry-leading signal-to-noise ratio and compact design, the technology enables professional-grade recording across a wide range of environments—from studio setups to field production.

“Sonaura is a true feat of engineering,” said Ryan Burke, Freedman Group Portfolio Manager. “It’s clarity, resilience and sonic precision combined with its ultra-compact form heralds the bright future of microphone technology. Through seamless collaboration, RØDE and Infineon have delivered the best of their respective worlds to creators, with Sonaura boasting uncompromising audio quality in an incredibly versatile form factor.”

Alongside Sonaura, RØDE introduced RØDELink II, a next-generation UHF wireless microphone system aimed at filmmakers, broadcasters and creators. The system offers dual-channel recording, strong signal stability and 32-bit float onboard recording, ensuring reliable, high-quality audio capture in complex environments. Timecode support further simplifies syncing audio with video during production.

The company also expanded its studio hardware lineup with new tools designed for modern content creation workflows. These include the LPA1 low-profile studio arm, built for unobstructed on-camera setups, and the DS3 desktop studio arm, which offers flexible positioning without the need for mounting.

In addition, RØDE introduced the PodMic Flag, a customisable branding accessory for podcasters, and RØDECaster Studio, a new AI-powered desktop application designed to streamline audio editing and production. Developed by RØDE’s AI Lab, the software features transcript-based editing, automated speaker identification and AI-assisted tools for refining audio content with minimal manual effort.

The new ecosystem integrates recording, editing and publishing into a single workflow, with support for direct cloud syncing and one-click export to major platforms.

RØDE will showcase these innovations at the NAB Show in Las Vegas from April 18 to April 22, alongside recently launched products including the RØDECaster Video S and RØDECaster Video Core.
